Elegant Oyster Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
This is a FANTASTIC recipe!! I love regular Oyster Stew using milk/cream, butter and oysters, but decided to give this w try, YAY! I used my mini food processor to chop all the veggies uniformly& that cut the prep time drastically! I used a combo of veggie & chicken broth and a bottle of clam juice I had in the cabinet to add a lil more flavor and used the oyster juices as well. I doubled the recipe & omitted the cayenne bc my toddler but otherwise followed everything exactly, Oh I did only use 2-6oz cans of artichokes (and should have chopped them better). I highly suggest trying this, it is wonderful, the sage is very complimentary to the oyster flavor, this is a keeper!!

Vegan-Friendly Falafel

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
I just made these for the first time and they are very good! Somewhat time consuming and the fact that I had to use a tiny food processor added to the time...lol. I did use more garlic, cilantro, and rather than AP flour I used Chick Pea flour which I think is somewhat finer and had to use about 5tbsp of it. I made these into about 4 inche 'patties' and baked in the oven on 350. I baked the bottom and broiled the tops, in my opinion I think the broiling gave them a much crunchier top. Next time I may just broil both sides. These are very tasty with the "Real Hummus" recipe from here, thanks so much for sharing!

Real Hummus

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
I recently have converted to veganism and have been paying 6.49 five days a week for a hummus wrap at Earth Fare. I knew I could make a hummus wrap much cheaper from home but just needed the right hummus recipe! This one is the first one I have ever tried and its great! I followed the posters update and used more tahini and two large garlic cloves, next time I will only use one large or two small. I may add the remainder of the chick peas from the second can (had to get 2-15oz cans) to even out the garlic flavor but I dont mind it, just trying to be cautious of my hubby and co-workers..lol. I can't wait to try this again and possibly use other yummy ingredients :)

Chicken Fajita Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
This is my 2nd time in a month making this marinade, 1st for fajitas and today just for grilled chicken, its delicious!!! I do not have cumin on hand but other than that I follow everything to a T. I make it in the morning and put it in a shaker bottle in the fridge and when I go to the fridge I give it a lil shake all day long (I am wondering if this could stay in the fridge for a few days or possibly be frozen in ice cube trays?). I marinade the chicken for 3 hours. I do add some srircha (sp) to it, for some kick and wow this is awesome!!! Use salt to bring out all the great flavors, its essential! Thanks for a great recipe, I LOVE IT!!

WOW! I too was skeptical of this recipe being that it did not have rosemary or lemon juice which almost all others did. I am not a big rosemary fan so we decided to try this. YUMMMMM!!!! Marinated for 1.5 hours and broiled, these were great THANKS for sharing!!

Frank's Spicy Alabama Onion Beer Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
this is simmering now and tastes wonderful so I am really excited to see how it tastes after a day or so. I have never really followed a recipe when making chili but decided to this time and yummmm the flavor are very tasty (I did omit the Jalapenos bc I dont have any and the red pepper flakes for my toddler). I also (from other reviews) added some cinnamon & cumin & WOW cinnamon really gives chili a kick and a lil ting on your tongue. Cant wait until 5:30 when my DH will be here and we EAT this yummy chili! Thank you for posting!

Ground Beef and Rice with Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I didnt follow the recipe exactly so I am not sure how this would really taste. I used some rice I had from Saturday that also had black beans in it, and everything tastes good though. I didnt have chili powder either so I have no clue what this really tastes like, oh and I also used and Italian blend of shredded cheese and not velveeta. I will re-rate when I re-make with correct indg's. But it was good and we did like it and I will try it again the proper way!

I think the best part is the easy-ness and the simple indg's too also I only had a pan, bowl, measuring spoon, and measuring cup to wash afterwards!! I didnt have a bundt so I used a pie pan and it worked fine, but I only used 2 cans of Biscuits not 3 otherwise I followed everything exactly and YUMMMMMMMMM!! THANK YOU!

Oyster Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I grew up eating my grandparents Oyster Stew and loved it and have made it before but wanted to find a recipe with more substance, so tried this. WORD TO THE WISE, do not use FAT FREE 1/2 and 1/2 I got it by accident and it had a weird sweet taste that almost ruined the stew, I had to over salt & pepper it to cover that weird sweet taste. I too grated the celery, onion, and potatoe and the results were great, my husband who hates celery didn't even notice it!! Great recipe just get the correct ingredients ;)

Smothered Hamburger Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
Tasty recipe, I thawed 3lbs instead of 2lbs so I had to add a lil more seasonings, I didn't have beef base so I used the same amount Onion Soup Mix, I used whole wheat bread, and instead of water with the soup I filled the can 1/2 with Heavy Whipping Cream and 1/2 with Beef Broth, after I took out the patties (used a big electric skillet) I threw in 1 large chopped onion and 1 can mushrooms and sauteed, then put my soup mixter in with that, then added the patties back in, Great recipe! THANKS!

Roasted New Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
Still in the oven but WOW they look & smell great!! I am believing 2 things are key for these to be at their best, 1: the oven temp has to be high to get the nice brownness 2: they have to be on the lowest rack possible (just as recipe advises)....I followed the recipe but did sprinkle a lil oregano & garlic powder over them to suit our tastes. I also had 1/2 an onion leftover from my meat loaf and at the advice of others I sliced it a lil thick and just tossed it over the potatoes in the last few mins of cooking, I turned them once, so the other cut side could get a nice golden brown. What a simple easy and do-able recipe! THANKS!
