Oyster Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I grew up eating my grandparents Oyster Stew and loved it and have made it before but wanted to find a recipe with more substance, so tried this. WORD TO THE WISE, do not use FAT FREE 1/2 and 1/2 I got it by accident and it had a weird sweet taste that almost ruined the stew, I had to over salt & pepper it to cover that weird sweet taste. I too grated the celery, onion, and potatoe and the results were great, my husband who hates celery didn't even notice it!! Great recipe just get the correct ingredients ;)

Smothered Hamburger Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
Tasty recipe, I thawed 3lbs instead of 2lbs so I had to add a lil more seasonings, I didn't have beef base so I used the same amount Onion Soup Mix, I used whole wheat bread, and instead of water with the soup I filled the can 1/2 with Heavy Whipping Cream and 1/2 with Beef Broth, after I took out the patties (used a big electric skillet) I threw in 1 large chopped onion and 1 can mushrooms and sauteed, then put my soup mixter in with that, then added the patties back in, Great recipe! THANKS!

Roasted New Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
Still in the oven but WOW they look & smell great!! I am believing 2 things are key for these to be at their best, 1: the oven temp has to be high to get the nice brownness 2: they have to be on the lowest rack possible (just as recipe advises)....I followed the recipe but did sprinkle a lil oregano & garlic powder over them to suit our tastes. I also had 1/2 an onion leftover from my meat loaf and at the advice of others I sliced it a lil thick and just tossed it over the potatoes in the last few mins of cooking, I turned them once, so the other cut side could get a nice golden brown. What a simple easy and do-able recipe! THANKS!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
DELICIOUS!! My Nanny always made stuffed cabbage and I have tried them but they are time consuming, this recipe is tasty and easier than the rolls. I only had a regular sized can of tomato sauce so I did have to add some chili sauce (closest thing I had) at the end. Very good quick recipe!!

White Chocolate Cheesecake with White Chocolate Brandy Sauce

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
Yummy!!! I have never heard of a crustless cheesecake so I put a graham cracker crust down, I wish I would have used Oreos like someone suggested because this with crushed oreos is GREAT! Doubled the chocolate like advised and skipped the sauce, very easy and tasty THANKS!

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
I read many granola recipies and settled on this one because I like Rice Crispy Treats..lol. I didnt use oatmeal, I did add 1/2 cup wheat germ. These taste so yummy and my daughter has ate them multiple times today. The possibilities are endless I bought tart cherries so I will be making cherry & walnut next!! THANKS!...ps I also think banana chips with pecans and maple syrup instead of honey, would also be tasty!

Its in the oven right now! I forgot to get broth at the store and had already drained the seasoned water from the chicken before I realized I was out...sooo....I used 1 can red enchilada sauce and 1 can water, it tastes good, and it smells great! My husband doesnt like food with tomatoes in it, so a lot of the time he wouldnt eat enchiladas, this creamy sauce is perfect for us both!

Corny Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I doubled the recipe and the sour cream did over power a lil, I used fresh canned green beans and white corn from our garden so I may have under salted, but the sour cream taste was too strong for my taste. But will try again!!

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
What an easy cake!!! I was only going to make a half batch, but at the end added the whole 2 cups of water!! So I had to go back and add the additional flour, sugar..etc. Well this cake was SO easy I just sifted it all into the batter I already mixed in the pan and re-mixed it again. It cooked perfectly! I made a Buttercream icing from scratch (2 sticks butter, 1/3 bag powd sugar, heavy cream, cocoa powder & light corn syrup) it was a great cake to toss together and with an easy clean up. THANKS

Best Tuna Melt (New Jersey Diner Style)

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
Being from the South we tend to over do it with tuna and chicken salad. I always threw in relish, bioled eggs, onion, etc etc. When I saw this I was skeptical but I love a tuna melt so I decided to try it. WOW! Its a really great recipe and one I have made 3 times now. Its the perfect sandwich on those hurried days, and toasting the bread is key a lil toast then the tuna helps keep it crisp! GREAT RECIPE!

Aioli

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I hated this recipe. I made it twice back to back to try and get a better flavor but YUCK. The garlic was WAY too strong in the first batch (4 cloves). And the second bath was bland even after I added a lot of sale and cayenne pepper. I think I would be better off just jazz-ing up some mayo next time...lol. I wanted to try it to make it from scratch, but failed on this one.

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
WOW! These are superb! I agree with others that the crakers make them taste so good with the crab. I made the "basic beurre blanc" to go with these and they were heaven!! I only added a tad more Old Bay & used yellow onions instead of green but other than that follwed the recipe! DELICIOUS! **update*** made these again for the 2nd time, they are fool proof and very quick & easy to make, I pattied these up larger then before used a can of backfin meat, a can of special, and a tin can of crabmeat (by the tuna)....still tasted great!
