I dream a lot. I want to own my own business, but I have yet to figure out what I want to sell. I want to hike the Appalachian Trail someday. Until then, I'm learning how to modify all of my recipes so I can lose weight. I enjoy flavor. It's really hard to cook with spices with most of my family because they prefer the meat in it's own juices and baked, boiled or fried potatoes. I just try to add a little something when I cook. If it's too noticeable, they'll say something. What's even better, is when they're gobbling up something I made, and I tell them I added something to it. Then they kind of slow down and say,"Oh, well, I knew there was SOMETHING different. I didn't really care for it." Hello?! They just had a second helping!! Now I don't tell them anything. The other day, my mom asked me to make my goulash. She said that her's doesn't turn out as good as mine. She taught me how to make it, but I had to improve it.:)
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking healthy fried chicken. I've recently tried baked sweet potato fries. They're really delicious with a touch of kosher salt and a few drops of jalapeno juice. I'm into my own goulash. My family and friends love it. I love making "poor man's" steak. I add a few extras to make it my own and it is truly scrumptious. Majority of my favorites are actually very simple to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Preparing and cooking a giant turkey for Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
Making a huge feast for my family by myself last Christmas.
My cooking tragedies
Same Christmas, I forgot about my hashbrown casserole browning in the oven, and went to the next room to finish wrapping presents. The smoke alarm went off, and when I went to open the oven, flames came shooting out from the top of the casserole. It was still edible after I scraped off the top layer of corn flakes. I was so mad at myself!
