About this Cook
SC native. Married with two teenaged boys. Work as kindergarten teacher's aide and church musician.
My favorite things to cook
Love to bake cakes and cookies and make jellies, preserves, and pickles.
My cooking triumphs
The recipe for Esther's Orange Marmalade Cake from the Mitford books is always a hit for me. I have adapted it for different fruits with great success.
My cooking tragedies
Baked whole pumpkin is a disaster. I follow the recipe precisely and it the custard looks awful and never sets up. After nuking in the microwave, it looks like gray scrambled eggs. My husband swears it's delicious but I refuse to even taste it.

Baked Whole Pumpkin
I've tried this several times--the custard just won't set. The color is unappetizing. Never again! Pecan pie is much less trouble.
