About this Cook
I'm a yoga and meditation teacher. I'm also a snowboarder and mother of a wonderful 8-year-old boy. I help manage a healthfood store, and am a pescatarian.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love to cook anything! The more complicated, the better. I love a good challenge. I love to eat Indian, Thai and Middle Eastern food, but I'm still learning to cook them properly.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a very wide background, having grown up in the North East, then migrating to the deep South, finally ending up in the West. At one point I actually worked for the family that created the first Girl Scout cookie (the Gottlieb's in Savannah GA). This is where I got a LOT of my baking/commercial experience, both in Kosher deli foods, as well as pastries and all things baked.
My cooking triumphs
I love to make beautiful desserts, usually around Christmas. My most well-received have been pumpkin cheesecake, traditional yule log, and most recently a white chocolate & raspberry tiramasu.
My cooking tragedies
My biggest cooking tragedies have been cakes and cupcakes at this altitude. I moved to Colorado about 5 years ago from the East Coast (Outerbanks of NC), and I'm just learning to adjust recipes so they rise right and don't turn into sunken hockey pucks.
