Grammie's cookies on stoneware cookie sheet
Jase and I
About this Cook
I have two kids, 13 months apart, currently both under two. I am learning that cooking well is worth the extra time and dishes it takes.
My favorite things to cook
Biscuits (any type, I cook them all the time) and Waffles
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cast Iron Pan, I think using the pan we wash rarely comes from my husband's upbringing
My cooking triumphs
I will not brag about what I have done, but look forward to what better creations I will accomplish
My cooking tragedies
The BIG batch of soup I made seemingly turned out well as I had used many choice veggies and a lot of time doing prep and simmering. Then, after a few bites, I noticed the flies. It was wrong on so many levels! I avoided using broccoli for a year after that as I suspect the little guys came in on the organic broccoli that I had simply rinsed under the tap water.

Aunt Carol's Spinach and Fish Bake
I could not rate this any less! I was impressed with the result. I've never done fish with spinach and cheese, and am excited with the new combination. I used bran instead of bread crumbs, and chopped fresh baby spinach instead of frozen. Skipped the pepper. Wonderful as is...not sure if I would even add onion or garlic because it has such an exquisite flavour already. My 1 year old son, who is teething and not eating much, ate his share (mixed with rice), and then kept asking for more.

Shortbread Cookies II
Everything you would expect in a shortbread cookie. Not too sweet. Very customizable. I used mint flavouring instead of vanilla. I did the rolling into balls and pressing with a fork to bake mine. Turned out great! Forgot them in the oven for over 25 minutes - thankfully I was using my stone cookie sheet...so although well browned, these cookies did not burn and tasted great! I hope to memorize this one.

Herbed Dumplings
Good, but I did not use enough liquid and the pot I dropped the dumplings into was too small so it turned out like a biscuit topped stew. Husband and son were very impressed and liked the accidental results a lot.
