Grandma's Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
I prepared this cake for dessert for my family last night. We had it w/ BB homemade vanilla ice cream and it was absolutely divine! I woke up this morning w/ it on my mind and decided to bring some to the office to have w/ coffee. Well, I must say that it is EVEN BETTER today. This is an incredibly wonderful recipe that reminds me of being a little girl and eating the cakes the deaconesses would bring to church for Sunday evening services. The only thing I did different was bake chopped pecans into the top of it, omitting the powdered sugar. Thank you for a great, old fashioned recipe! It will be the one I use from now on!

Bacon Wrapped Barbeque Shrimp

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I must say, there was not a single piece of this left at half time of the Super Bowl game! Everyone loved these and asked if I had more. Instead of adding bbq seasoning, I slightly precooked the bacon, coated both sides with Kraft Original bbq sauce, wrapped bacon around each individual shrimp and secured it w/ a toothpick. They were juicy and flavorful. I will definitely be serving these again!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
These turned out really well. Definetly makes me want to make them at home from now on instead of going out to BWW! Plus, you'll have leftovers for the next day!

Sweet Spicy Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I made these as one of the flavors of wings for our Super Bowl festivities and they turned out really well. I did back them instead though. I wish I could have tasted a bit more of the combination of sweet and spicy instead of majority spicy, but all in all really good. Maybe they really will turn out better grilled. I'll have to take that route the next time.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
These were a really nice appetizer. I did follow the advice of another reviewer and coated both sides of the bacon w/ the brown sugar before wrapping it around the smokie. They were really good.

Super Bowl Bites

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I prepared these for our Super Bowl party and was holding my breath while doing so. This is b/c the other reviews made me a bit fearful w/ the soggy, or hard bread comments. Well, I am here to state, they turned out PERFECTLY and ALL were eaten and enjoyed by everyone-kids and adults. I used the rolls that you have to bake for about 8 minutes (w/ the lil' puffy guy that giggles). I did bake them first, sliced them in half, and added the beef mixture as instructed. I used beefy onion soup mix and Velveeta shreds instead, and covered the (disposible) pan tightly, and they were soft and flavorful! I think the rolls worked really well, b/c they are a little thicker and can handle the juices w/o becoming soggy. I will definetly make these from now on when we host events at our home.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I used this glaze on the Too Much Chocolate Cake recipe and it was perfect! This tastes like glaze my grandmother made when I was a child. It was very creamy and smooth.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I have baked other chocolate cakes that have gotten rave reviews from friends and co-workers, but this one "takes the cake" so to speak! It was OUTSTANDING! I could also tell this b/c I baked it Friday night and it was gone by Sunday morning! I followed the advice of other reviewers and used mini-morsels. They distributed perfectly in the batter! You MUST try this recipe to truly understand!

Beefy Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This is absolutely THEEE BEST spanich rice I have ever eaten! We hosted Christmas this year @ our home and decided to do Mexican dishes (so tired of turkey, ham, and dressing @ this point). Well, this is one that my husband and I chose and it was devoured!!!! I followed the advice of a reviewer and used Mexican stewed tomatoes and still added about 3 seconds of squirt of ketchup for that extra tangy flavor and it was perfect. Will be making again soon. The kids loved it!!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
The reason I'm giving this recipe 4 stars is b/c I mistakingly followed the advice of a reviewer that said it was ok to refrigerate over night. My dough smelled great, it rose as intended and my icing was perfect. Woke up next morning to take out of the fridge and allow to warm up and rise again before baking and it never did. I just wanted them to be hot for breakfast w/o having to wake up b4 the roosters to prepare. Next time I will just bake and reheat.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
I baked these muffins for our family's annual Christmas morning brunch, and they were a big hit! I made them in mini's so there would be more to go around. I did follow the advice of other reviewers and added a bit more vanilla to the batter and extra cinnamon and brown sugar to the topping mix. I will definetly be baking these again soon. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!
