Turkey with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This was a good alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey for my small family. I slept in and didn't get it started on time and ended up bumping it up to high for the last hour or so. I think this dried it out and I should have added more chicken broth as it was cooking to help this problem. My husband loved it, though! I'm just incredibly picky about white-meat turkey so my version was too dry for my tastes.

The Best Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
VERY GOOD!!!! My family loved these potatoes!! I couldn't get fresh chives but used green onions instead and the results were still wonderful! Pretty easy to do but I didn't have a masher so had to use my husband and his muscles with a wooden spoon instead. Excellent... this is a must-try!

Sauteed Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
I was multi-tasking when doing this so I burnt the almonds and had to pick most of them out. Fine by me since I wasn't necessarily wanting them, anyway. Otherwise, very tasty and easy to do!

Frosted Cranberries

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
SUPER EASY and tasty. Pleasantly surprised! I put the cranberries in a Ziploc bag with the sugar and shook but some of the sugar clumped up so they weren't quite as neat as the picture on the recipe. I think it helped with the time it took for that step, though. I had problems finding pasteurized egg whites but only because I had never bought them before. (It was in small print on the front of the box.) As always, better ingredients yield better results!

Honey Baked Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
First, I don't have an apple corer so that part was extremely difficult. If you don't have one, get one before attempting this!! Don't skimp on your cranberries, either... the ones I bought weren't very good. The apples, however, were VERY good and with the right utensils, this would have been incredibly easy. My family loved it as dessert for Thanksgiving!

My husband loves this! I made it and served it for Thanksgiving dinner and it was a big hit. Everyone loved it and it's easy with easy-to-find ingredients.

Old Virginia Wassail Cider

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This was very good and simple to make but I was personally looking for something a little warmer and spicier than this. Something more like cider with mulling spices, etc. Excellent for what it was!

Shortbread Cookies IV

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This was yummy and easy to do but I forgot to sprinkle the sugar on right before putting it in the oven... caught my mistake a few minutes in and it turned out ok after all. My family loved them! I was really impressed with how easy they were but I had a hard time finding the white rice flour in the average grocery store.
