Married for the second time, a mom to a 15 yr old son and a 2 month old son. Stay at home mom again and loving it. Looking to start my own business in paper arts. Introducing my husband to the joys of cooking and eating _good_ food, and teaching my oldest son how to shop and cook good food on a budget.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with chocolate, cookies, cheesecakes, bread, the spaghetti sauce that I grew up eating, and my mom's enchiladas.
My cooking triumphs
Creating a new dish that makes enough for at least 4 meals (the first night, plus several meal options for the leftovers) that takes my son's food allergies into account. It's delicious, and the best part is that the crock-pot does all the work.
My cooking tragedies
A chocolate cake for my father-in-law's surprise 60th birthday party. I had to make the cake 3 times because:
1st time - I turned the cake out of pan to put on the cooling rack to finish cooling. Lost my grip, and the cake slipped off the rack, onto my hand *whew* only to compress on my hand then crack. *sigh*
2nd time - Okay, I have enough time to make it, and still be on track (had to have 2 cakes for the party)... put it together, baked it off, and wondered what happened when I pulled it out of the oven; it wasn't as dark, and hadn't risen as high. As I ran back over all the steps, I realized I'd left out the sugar. At this point I was near tears. Hubby and son suggested going back to bed and starting the day over (it was 6pm). I did, and then started attempt number three.
3rd time - Success - finally. Everything else I had to do for the cakes (frosting and decorating) came out just fine.
