About this Cook
Orginally from Ireland, I now live in the midwest. I coach high school soccer. I have a psychotic cat and a goofy dog.
My favorite things to cook
desserts, vegetarian dishes, soups
My cooking triumphs
pulling off a full thanksgiving menu made entirely from scratch. Making croissants from scratch. I made a Croquembouche last December for my sister to take to her french class.
My cooking tragedies
BUCHE DE NOEL! I have never been so frustrated by a recipe. I used a combination of Marta Stewart (for the filling and decorations) and Julia Childs (for the cake). The cake stuck to everything no matter what I did. It tasted great but basically turned into a giant lump of cake and chocolate-raspberry filling. I told people that the log got thrown into a wood chipper!

Kentucky Butter Cake
Awesome cake. I changed the directions, I creamed the butter and sugar together and then added the eggs, vanilla, and a teaspoon of orange zest. Then I mixed the dry ingredients together. I alternated the dry ingredients with the buttermilk. I doubled the sauce recipe, and poured 3/4 of it as directed, and spooned the final 1/4 over the top once I took it out of the pan. It turned out perfectly.
