About this Cook
I love cooking, but want to be more organized. I'm not a beginner, but I'm not an expert either. I like looking for recipes that offer a little twist on what I usually fix or that can tweak my existing recipe into something better.
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking from scratch when it's feasable. Otherwise I like cooking things that my family loves to eat. Taco pizza. Chicken and rice. Spaghetti sauce. Dressing. Scalloped potatoes. Beef and rice casserole. Beef and veggie soup. Cornbread. Banana bread. Banana blueberry muffins. Chocolate snack cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking Grandpa's dressing at Thanksgiving is my all time favorite because it tastes sooo good.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate snack cake - made from scratch. My grandfather's dressing ~ I make it better than anyone else!
My cooking tragedies
My first made from scratch birthday cake.

Jill's Hash Brown Casserole
I really liked this recipe. My family loves cheese so I doubled the cheese. Also, I didn't have an onion so I used a package of onion soup mix instead. I didn't have corn flakes either so I left that off. I put more cheese on the top for the last 15 minutes instead. I'll definately make this again.

Hash Brown Casserole II
I love potatoes, and the potatoes were so good in this recipe. (I used the Southern Style Hashbrowns.) I left off the cornflakes topping because we don't eat cornflakes, and I didn't want to buy a whole box just for this recipe - I just added more cheese to the top & uncovered it for 15 min. to let it brown. I cut back on the butter as recommended by other users, but I think that was a mistake. I added ground beef to make it a main dish and my family really liked it. We will make this again, only next time with all the butter.
