About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
My favorites are those cooked by somebody else. I'm a lazy cook. Would rather eat out.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Central European - Gulashes, roasts, fried stuff
My cooking triumphs
Pot roast from Julia Child's book (5lb. rump roast marinated 12 hours in one bottle red wine and vegs). Have never found a better recipe for this.
My cooking tragedies
Dried up over-cooked duck, no sauce -- but there was supposed to be one.

No-Mayonnaise Ranch Dressing
Excellent! I agree with others that it's better after "resting" in the fridge a while. I prefer to use the fresh herbs, garlic and onions so readily available all year round but it's a terrific dressing either way. Krys

Strawberry Avocado Salad
Great recepie but do cut out the sugar. Honey is enough.

Classic Macaroni and Cheese
The 375 temp was too high and the time was also too long. The top scorched and I agree with the person who wrote that the cheese and evaporated milk didn't create a sauce ... just sat there, curdled. In short, mac & cheese is a simple dish and I'm going back to the simple boxed kind -- quick, creamy and foolproof. Since I don't make it frequently, the additives aren't going to kill us.
