I'm a college student living with my younger brother, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. I love to read fantasy fiction. I'm a B.A. in World History major, hopefully I'll be moving to Delaware for my graduate studies. between a full load of classes and working 30+ hrs. a week and taking care of all my pets, food is something that has to be super simple and quick.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking breakfast food. It's SO YUMMY! I also like the versatility of a sandwich. You can put anything in them, eat the hot or cold, make ahead, and eat any time of day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma always made chicken and noodles (dumplings) for my birthday. She would serve it with homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing, creamed corn, and then an applesauce pie and buttermilk brownies. I make this meal for my friends on my birthday. It's a good way to remember my grandma, and show my friends how much I care.
My cooking triumphs
Finally figuring out the secret to my grandma's chicken and noodles. Her flavor was so complex and wonderful, and the noodles so buttery. Now I can make the whole meal from scratch knowing it tastes just as good as hers.
And once I made an entire thanksgiving dinner in my dorm with just a microwave, a george foreman grill, a toaster over, and a slow cooker! It was AWESOME!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make fudge....
And I still cannot make angel food cake. it always tastes like thick pound cake (still tastes good...but not was I was after!)
