I'm currently a graduate student at Northern Arizona University persuing an M.A. in English with an Emphasis in Secondary Education. I bake more than I cook. I also bake in large quantities for a friend's fraternity on a weekly basis, so I have an excellent tasting panel. :)
My favorite things to cook
peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, roast beef, yorkshire puddings, cheesecake, and banana bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is English, so we have some excellent versions of roast beef, yorkshire puddings, and beef stew. My mom also grew up in South Africa, so biltong is a real favorite of ours.
My cooking triumphs
High altitude cooking in general. I live at 7000 feet, so bread and cake recipes must be adjusted.
My cooking tragedies
In a hurry I accidentally used wax paper instead of parchment paper (oops!). The bottom of the the pastry turned out really waxy. Otherwise, cakes have fallen hideously (before I figured out how to convert recipes).
