About this Cook
I am married to a Chef who has really taught me a lot about cooking. He's patient with me too:) I just recently started to experiment with new recipes and try to cook something for him at least 4 times a week, otherwise, all he eats is restaurant food and I feel guilty asking him to cook for me after a 15 hour day cooking for others...
My favorite things to cook
Quiches - so versatile, so easy... anything I can throw in a slow cooker... Asian... seafood is my newest challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday cookies... Christmas Eve appetizers
My cooking triumphs
I recently found a recipe on here for a vinegar based bbq sauce for pulled pork that really wowed my husband... that's an accomplishment.
My cooking tragedies
When I was a teenager I was known for being a disaster in the kitchen - from forgetting to add the sugar to a jug of Kool-aid we took to a picnic all the way to leaving the plastic wrap on a baking dish of homemade cinnamon rolls my mom asked me to put in the oven...

Butternut Squash Soup
This was very good... I was looking for an easy to prepare butternut squash soup and this fit the bill. It does help to roast the squash first, makes the skin come off much easier... I followed the advice of using chicken stock and half the cream cheese and it was wonderful... I used my emusion blender to puree and this was ready in no time at all...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Wacky Cake
I loved how the cake part turned out... I confess I used a different frosting which was just okay... but the cake part of this was outstanding... super moist... and NO EGGS - that was the great part... These would do well as cupcakes also...

One Bowl Brownies
These were really easy and much better tasting than the recipe my MIL has in her family cookbook... I like my brownies to be chocolately and these were perfect... Next time, I'll try them with a better chocolate, I only had Baker's chocolate but I think a better brand of chocolate would only make them better...
