About this Cook
I am in the military and have moved around a lot. I love to cook and I am starting to enjoy baking. Being in the kitchen relaxes me so I aim to make about 3 new recipes a week, but stick to my old favorites the rest of the week. I have 3 beautiful dogs and we foster so there is always one more in and out of the house. I am very lucky to have an amazingly understanding boyfriend who lets me do this. Not to get on a soap box but puppy mills are very bad!! I advocate adopting/rescuing and spaying and nuetering!! AR is my addiction, im on here most of my day (dont tell my boss please!) I thank everyone for their reviews to better my dinners! (=
My favorite things to cook
Cheesecake...i have experimented a lot, some have been good, some bad... im a pasta feen (maybe why i weigh so much! (= ) im always looking for new ways to prepare it. I love comfort food. We've discovered my bf is lactose intolerant as of recent, so im learning to cook without dairy, its harder than you realize! We have been learning the joys of Soy, there are so many products out there now that it is making my life so much easier. i am still trying to get used to the taste of it, but when cooking you never know the difference.
My favorite family cooking traditions
i only get home home once or twice a year, but my mom must make sausage balls. my brother-in-law must make at least 2 cheesecakes, chocolate and plain. it is what i wait for all year long. i usually (happily) end up with a cooler full of cheesecake and sausage balls for the trip home
My cooking triumphs
when people ask to take the recipe home with them, it always makes me feel good. i am very critical of my cooking, so when i hear a "uuummmmm" or "seconds please" i am ecstatic!
My cooking tragedies
ive had many tragedies, BUT i learn and try again to make it better or remove it from the "box". ive set the oven on fire more than once, did you know wax paper in a gas oven goes up QUICK! i never get bread right its always burnt on the outside/raw in the middle, i wont give up though!

Amber's Sesame Chicken
i thought it was a little sweet, but the bf loved it and ate the rest, i was making it for him, since he loves the resturaunt type. i will try again, less of the teriyaki and honey next time, since i doubled it from other reviews.
