I am a Craft Designer by choice and a self-retired surgical nurse. I lost my husband to cancer so now, I don't cook as much, but I have never given up on the knowledge I have learned and gathered throughout my life.
My favorite things to cook
Fresh out of the garden and off the vines! This year our 'grape' tomato bush/tree gave us over two bushels of "grapes" that were so sweet, half of them never got washed or made it indoors.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our holidays! Thanksgiving has always been our FAMILY gathering. Since losing my adopted sis, my husband, my daddy and my sister...all in a span of 10 years, it is now mom, my younger sis and myself. Our families are scattered but this will always be OUR holiday.
My cooking triumphs
Working with, being mentored by and taught by Mr. Vincent Korbel. He is/was an International renowned Chef, my instructor and taught me many things above and beyond the normal college courses.
He taught me the true appreciation of all foods...no matter how great or how small.
My cooking tragedies
OMG! Trying to make bread. I was young, dumb and loved the taste of fresh, homemade bread so I tried it. Spent the whole dang day at it and the dogs would not get near my "Hockey Pucks".
I gave a bread maker now and love my fresh bread. I NEED A KITCHEN AID MIXER THAT WILL DO THE KNEADING FOR ME....
