About this Cook
Hi there! I'm a mom who works full-time, so I love anything that cooks up quick and easy. When I have the time, I like to try new recipes, and this site is a godsend to me. My 2 teens and 20 year-old aren't too picky (2 won't eat seafood)which is a blessing. Hubby eats anything you put in front of him, as long as he doesn't have to cook--yet he swore during our engagement that he LOVED to cook and would do all the cooking. (Well, he DID attempt to make a beef stew using his 'own' recipe. He added cinnamon. Nobody ate. End of story.)
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Banana bread, cookies, coffee cakes, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was amazing in the kitchen, and I'll be honest, I just can't compete with her. She could make gourmet dishes that seemed effortless--when I cook, the kitchen looks like a bomb hit it. Only 1 thing I can make as good as mom's--lasagna. I make 2 at a time and freeze one.
My cooking triumphs
Last November, my glass top to my stove cracked 3 DAYS before Thanksgiving, And it was my turn to host the dinner for ten. Thank God for microwave ovens! The whole dinner turned out perfectly, everything from scratch--no fake potatoes in this house!
My cooking tragedies
Well, nobody has died yet...

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III
In a word, PERFECTION! I followed the recipe exactly, and this is by far the BEST coffee cake I have ever had. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Thanks Jan for submitting this, it's a keeper!

Microwave Corn on the Cob
Leave the corn in the husk and microwave for 3 minutes. When you remove the husk, all the cornsilk comes off with the husk, no wasting time removing every little strand.

All American Roast Beef
Thanks for submitting such a great recipe! My roast came out PERFECT thanks to your advice about cooking at 375 degrees. I had a tendency to overcook roasts, but not anymore! Even the cheapest cut of beef comes out wonderful.
