Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
I liked this recipe but changed it a little by adding tomato paste and only 1 can of diced tomatoes (with basil and oregano) instead of the 2 and 1/2 cups tomatoes. The sauce was thick, but good!

Crunchy French Toast Sticks

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
I thought the overall taste of these was a little absent. I added cinn., vanilla, and nutmeg to the egg mix and used Frosted Flakes but the toast still seemed to lack something. The next time I ate them I sprinkled Cinn. sugar on top and added more syrup and they were much better.

Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
This is a fun way to cook potatoes. My family likes a good buttery potato, so they had to add extra butter to make it taste the way they want, but I thought it was a unique way to cook them and makes for a pretty presentation for guests.

Cajun Crab Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
This was definitely not my favorite recipe or soup. The fish taste was a little too strong for me. That was probably due to the clam juice so I would probably use less of that and more milk next time. But honestly there probably won't be a next time. Sorry!

Foil Wrapped Veggies

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
This is my new favorite way to cook veggies. I spread EVOO on the foil and put a cup of veggies on top. I sprinkle different herbs, such as rosemary, garlic, and thyme, and the cook on the grill. They turn out great!

Slow Cooker Ham

Loved this recipe. Super easy. I used a small 3lb ham that was pre-sliced and I cooked it on low for about 4 hours. It was perfect!

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
YUMMY! This was great. My husband actually made this recipe for me because I was coming home late and he did a fabulous job. He "accidentally" left out the spinach because he didn't know it was in the freezer, however the recipe was awesome without and had a great flavor. I did ask him to add more ingredients for the sauce and it was perfect. We used whole wheat noodles and used about 2 cups total less cheese. It was great! Thanks.

Zucchini Patties

These were really good! No one in my family is a huge zucchini fan, but I like to try new things and we all loved them! I used Italian bread crumbs and added garlic powder. Turned out great!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
Wow! This was amazing! I would highly recommend it! I bought some fresh salmon filets and put the mustard/honey mix in the fridge for 30 minutes to thicken. Instead of baking them I put them on a wooden cedar plank on the grill and they were amazing!

Heather's Cilantro, Black Bean, and Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
I really combined this recipe with the recipe Summer Corn Salsa. I used one can of golden corn, one can of rotel (b/c that is what I had on hand) and one can of black beans both drained. I diced some onion (I only had white) and sprinkled with cilantro and minced garlic and a little olive oil. Tasted great!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
I gave this recipe 3 stars because my husband and I both hated it, however, my mother and aunt both LOVED it. The beer was very strong to me and my husband and was too strong to even finish my bowl of soup. My mother and aunt did not detect any beer taste and was so glad I was giving them all of the leftovers. Very odd. I guess it just depends on the person but I would definitely not put the beer in the recipe again IF I decide to even make it again.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
I liked this recipe, but didn't love it. I think the problem was the sausage I used. I also did not know what andoullie sausage was and couldn't find it so I used turkey keilbosa sausage and didn't find it as appetizing after it sat in the crock pot all day. But my family and guests liked the recipe. I made it with whole grain brown rice and a salad. I loved the shrimp in the recipe and was had tons left over!

Babe Ruth Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
These were AWESOME! I used Honey Corn Flakes and low fat Jiff creamy pb, and instead of 1/2 cup white sugar I used about 1/3 cup Splenda/Sugar blend. I also only mixed in about 4 cups of corn flakes but used maybe 1/2 cup more as a topping along with some extra chocolate chips. I think it would be nice to try milk chocolate chips next. But these were great and easy!!!

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
I thought this recipe had a great flavor and made plenty! I did want it thick, not soupy, so I added the cornstarch/water mixture 2 times suggested by other reviewers. I also added finely chopped carrots and exchanged the half-half for 1% milk. It turned out great! I made it with green bean bundles and my family really liked it!

This was a simple dish that had good flavor. I did cut my potatoes (I used red) very thin and added shredded cheddar cheese on top. It was delicious. I served with black eyed peas. Thanks!

Honey Walnut Shrimp

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
WOW! This is a stellar recipe and made me and my cooking talent look awesome in front of our dinner guests. The meal was just as good as PF Changs! It did make quite a mess on my stove top, due to the oil splattering and popping everywhere when the shrimp was frying but other than that it was a hit! Thanks for the recipe!! (By the way, I tripled the sauce recipe and am glad I did. We had 6 people eat off of this meal and maybe had a 1/2 cup sauce left over.)

Almond French Toast

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
I was pleased with this recipe overall but had a hard time cooking the toast all the way through without burning the almonds. But my family enjoyed this recipe. I think next time I will cut the toast into "sticks" so that it will cook more evenly through.
