About this Cook
I am a stay home mother of 5 and I am so blessed to have this job!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy trying new recipes and watching my family's reaction. Of course baking is my all time favorite!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We like to make homemade egg noodles with gravy for the holidays, a tradition passed down from my German grandmother. My 5 children and I pick a Saturday right before Christmas to bake at least a dozen items to hand out to our neighbors. We spend the entire day baking and packaging!

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes
Great recipe! Although I also cut down the amount of olive oil used. Once potatoes were in the zip lock bag, I drizzled just enough to lightly coat. I didnt have any onion soup mix on hand so I substitued a baked potato seasoning instead. Any of your favorite seasonings will work. Be creative! These were a nice change of pace from my typical mashed or fried potatoes! Thank you for an easy recipe with such variety!

Beef Barley Soup
What a wonderful soup! I had to make a few changes due to what I had on hand. I had a london broil, so I chopped up about 2 cups worth and browned in olive oil with 4 cloves diced garlic. Then I added 1 packet of onion soup mix with 10 c water, 4 beef bouillon cubes, 1 1/2 tsp worchestershire sauce and let simmer for a couple of hrs with lid tilted on pot. Once meet seemed tender, I then added the carrots, celery and substituted tomato paste for the diced tomatoes (didnt have any!) I didnt add frozen peas, but had some fresh cabbage, so thru some of that in there as well! I simmered the soup until the veggies were tender. The great thing about this soup is substitutions are easy and just about anything goes! Have fun and enjoy! This is a keeper. Great served with homemade dinner rolls.!

Excellent change of pace soup! Quite refreshing and definitely a keeper! I, too, also added the chicken broth, garlic and onion! I didnt have the oroz on hand, so I substituted pasta shells. Worked well. Even the kids enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing!
