My names Liz and I love love LOVE to cook. I'm a proud Army wife and mother to one Tornado disguised as a little boy.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new recipes. Chicken is a favorite because it is so versatile and can be made to taste delicious using just about anything. Potatoes are my favorite food group so you can be sure they appear in many ways shapes and forms on our dinner table.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has some awesome old recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Mainly southern recipes (which are oh-so-good). We always have the BEST stuffing/dressing at Thanksgiving made with chicken before stuffing it in the turkey. There is also an old recipe for fruit cake that is a big hit.
My cooking triumphs
I'm quickly becomeing known for my moms fruit pizza recipe. I am constantly asked to bring it to any BBQ or party we go to. Also...any time I make anything new and my hubby says 'This is good' more than once in a 30 second time frame I know its a hit!
My cooking tragedies
I like to think I'm a pretty good cook but we all have those times when we forget to turn on the timer...or forget an ingredient. For me it was when we were having my (now) in-laws over for dinner when I was a teenager. I was helping mom by making her home-made mac and cheese and put waaay too much water in the pot which consequently boiled over. So I took it off the heat and cleaned up the mess...then got sidetracked. And it was about 30 minutes before I remembered the noodles weren't done cooking! I put 'em back on real quickly...not knowing that they would turn to a MUSHY nasty mess! My mom wasn't too happy...and there was no mac and cheese that night.
