Me and Dude Eating Brownies
About this Cook
I am mom to two little boys who LOVES to cook (not that I have the time anymore--but I try!). Both my husband and I aspire to be foodies and love variety and trying new cuisines. Here's to hoping my children won't be a picky eaters!!
My favorite things to cook
Main dishes and sides. I am not much of a baker but not for lack of trying! More specifically I love cooking the simple every day stuff and changing it up a bit everytime. I like to experiment and rarely stick to to a recipe exactly. I have many recipes in my mind for tried and true basics that I can pull out at any time for meals that will be guaranteed to please.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cherry Cheesecake at Christmas is the top tradition which I carry on every year! Other traditions are slow cooked pasta sauces, stews, braised meats and casseroles. Oh yeah I can't forget about fried bologna sandwiches!
My cooking triumphs
When I try a new recipe and it turns out well and gets added to my repertoire because it was a hit!
My cooking tragedies
When I try a new recipe and it doesn't taste as good as it sounds on paper.

BAKER'S Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Very good cookies. I added too much chocolate chips though and couldn't really taste the peanut butter. Next time I'll measure!

Barbecued Beef
Fantastic recipe. Very tasty...just like my mom makes and I could never get quite right on my own. Use smoked paprika instead of liquid smoke and it was perfect. Also seared meat like pp's and deglazed pan with vinegar and added all into crock pot. Will definetly make again. P.S. Used the left overs to make Uglies a recipe on AR that uses canned bisquit dough to make cups filled with pulled beef and topped with melted cheese. Yummy as well.

Green Tomato Cake
This is a fantastic cake! I made it exactly as the recipe stated but added a dash of cloves and cardamom. So moist and great slathered with cream cheese icing. Next time I will replace some of the tomato with carrot and pineapple as it is very much my ideal carrot cake spice blend. P.S. As other posters stated I processed the tomatoes unpeeled in the food processor then salted and drained. They did show up as green specks in the baked cake.
