Crunch Bars

These are great and the toffee just makes it just perfect. I used chocolate chips and pecans instead of walnuts. Came out perfect!

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
FINALLY! A pie crust that is easy to work with and tastes great. This will be my go-to recipe for all my crusts. I was sure to use ice cold water and add just a bit at a time and stir afterwards. Came out great!

Cherry Pie III

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
Great recipe and easy, but like others, I found the filling to be a tad too sweet. My suggestion for others is to try it with a little less than one cup, maybe 3/4 cup and then increase it from there to your tastes. 1 1/2 cups sugar is just too much for most people. Other than that, perfect! Oh, and if you are like me and found your cherry filling to be a little drab looking, add a little red food coloring and you're good to go.

Alfredo Sauce

For some reason, I thought the recipe called for one whole garlic crushed. Even with all the extra garlic, it was still great and my kids devoured it. Next time, I will be sure to use only one clove though! ;-)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
I can't say much that hasn't been said already. Just know that I have a house full of picky eaters and they ALL love love love this lasagna. Followed almost as written but used onion powder instead of onion and used only 1 tsp of salt. For personal preference, I only used about half of the ricotta. This will be my go-to lasagna recipe from now on!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Pretty good stuff! Used it with the red velvet cake recipe (by eleanor) on this site. Came out great and although it's not buttercream consistency, I was able to make a nice shell border on my cake and it cam out very pretty. Will use this again!

Great, super moist cake. Makes me want to slap myself for ever having used boxed cake. I think this will be my yellow cake go-to recipe from now on. Did't change a thing!!

Scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
So this is what REAL strawberry shortcake tastes like? This was just so delicious. I never knew making shortcake from scratch was so easy. The shortcakes were light and fluffy and had just the perfect texture. I skipped the cream of tartar and used 3 tsp of baking powder, as suggested by other reviewers. I added about 1/4 cup of sugar instead of 1/3 cup. I didn't have a pastry cutter on hand, so I just used a knife and my hands to make sure the texture was nice and crumbly. Rolled into 12 balls and smashed them down to 1/2 inch size then sprinkled with some sugar. 20 minutes in the oven was perfect for me. Be careful when slicing the shortcake, because its nice and crumbly and may fall apart easily if you aren't careful, but then again, its supposed to do that, its shortcake! I can't say enough great things about this recipe. It was awesome.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
This is a spectacular recipe and I will definitely be making again soon. I followed the recipe pretty closely with the following changes: 1) I cut the tortillas into wedges and sprayed both sides with butter. I then added them to a big baggie filled with my cinnamon-sugar mixture and just shook the bag until they were all coated. Made for a very easy cleanup. 2) I couldn't find any raspberries, so I just used more kiwi and raspberry preserves. 3) I used FIJI apples! I First sliced the apples into quarters and then dipped the apples in lemon juice before chopping up to prevent browning. 4) I didn't use the full amount of sugars suggested as my fruits were pretty sweet already, so I just sprinkled a bit of white and bit of brown sugar. I got rave reviews from my guests and they are looking forward to the next time I make this!

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
I will never use another baked beans recipe. I made this on Tuesday for a barbeque and everyone loved it! The only change I made was to use slightly less sugar and I also cooked the bacon about halfway before topping the beans with it. It was great and I will definitely make again soon.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This is excellent popcorn! Definitely a keeper. I made some tonight with my 8 year old son, and needless to say, all of my kids enjoyed it. We used 2 bags of popcorn and I found that to be just enough to use for this recipe. I also did not add salt because I thought it would be overkill with the popcorn being salted already. Other than that, we followed the recipe exactly. 5 stars!

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly except I marinated the chops for about 30 minutes before we threw them on the grill. My husband, who is incredibly picky, raved about these chops. My son also asked if he could wrap some of these pork chops up and take them to school for lunch, and he NEVER asks for sack lunch. Needless to say, I am sure we will be having these again sometime this week.

This recipe was pretty simple, but I wasn't too overly impressed. My kids loved it though, so that's good enough for me. I'll make it again just for them.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
Alright people, here is the deal. If you follow this recipe with the exception of using 1 cup BUTTER (not margarine) and 1 cup shortening, you will have the best buttercream icing ever. Tastes just like, if not better than the buttercream icing at any bakery. Cheers!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
The recipe "as is" is pretty bland and watery. I had to add much more cheese and more seasoning. After I did, it came out very good. So this is a good base recipe, but that's about it.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
My husband and my sons absolutely loved this dish. They were all begging for seconds. I had a 4 pounder so I cooked it a little longer and doubled up on the spices. This rub is the best and could easily be used on different types of meat. This is a dish I will make often.

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
I really enjoyed this recipe. The filling was a bit tart for my personal taste, so next time I will decrease the amount of lemon juice. I used this another person's suggestion and used the recipe to make cupcakes and I just put the lemon filling on the inside and frosted the cupcakes with the lemon butter frosting. The frosting was a little buttery for my taste so I fixed that by adding a bit of shortening and more powdered sugar to adjust. Came out great.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
Well I made these ribs tonight for dinner and my husband must have commented at least 4 or 5 times about how wonderful and good these were. As a matter of fact, he ate all of his ribs and asked for more before he had even touched anything else on his plate. I boiled these for about an hour and put them in the oven for another 55 minutes or so. The meat was literally coming off the bone, just the way we like it. Will definitely be making these again.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
This cake was pretty good, but a little dry for my tastes. Next time I would probably add some sour cream or maybe even oil to make it more moist. I got good feedback from my guests I served it to, so all in all it went over well. Not the perfect chocolate cake recipe but probably a great base recipe.
