Born and raised on the Gulf Coast. Lived there most of my life until 4 years ago. I was a stay at home (mostly) mom, mother of 2 girls. Both are grown and I am the grandmother of 2 girls and 2 boys. I have bought and read cookbooks most of my life. Its a hobby pasted down from my mom who was a fantastic cook. She passed away 2 years ago and I have inherited bunches of her cookbooks. I now like to surf the internet looking for new recipes to try.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake desserts. I have a sweet tooth and not only enjoy testing but love the joy it gives me to bake and share with others. I also love to make my own jelly and jams from fresh fruits in season. I also do a lot of cooking for my church family and enjoy big quanity cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I just remember being in the kitchen with my mom who could cook anything. From fried chicken to home-made chocolate eclairs she was a experienced cook. Of course with a family of 6 kids and a husband, thats all mom did was a lot of cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I think the best looking and one of the hardest things to make was a chocolate Groom's Cake. It was a chocolate cherry cake wich I painted melted chocolate on leaves and decorated with frosted grapes and the chocolate leaves.
My cooking tragedies
There have been a lot of cooking tragedies through the years but you never learn if you never try. Since my kids are grown and husband deseased, I dont try a lot of complicated recipes anymore. I like to try new ones but with few ingredients and easy to make.
