I'm a semi-newlywed (going on 2 years) and I love to cook!!
I learned to cook by watching my parents- my mom always cooked on the week days, and my dad always made breakfast and his famous chili or spaghetti or soups on the weekends.
I'm not big on recipes- I'll use one the first time, just go get the gist of a dish, but from then on I'll improvise, until the dish is my own.
I'm really hoping to find some great recipes here- and I'm sure I will!!
My favorite things to cook
Spaghetti & meatballs- I make an awesome homemade sauce! Bowtie pasta with diced tomatoes and sausage, Parmesan pork chops, Mexican pulled chicken, broiled salmon with asparagus, German sausages with saurkraut and potatoes, Balsamic Italian chicken, Lasagna. I like to play around with enw recipes all the time.
Every once in a while I get the urge to bake and I make homemade cupcakes or brownies, and occasionally cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Helping my dad make his chili or soups or spaghetti on weekends when I was a kid, Holiday dinners where the whole family helps, Making Mom's chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate when it's cold out!
My cooking triumphs
Mastering the perfect homemade spaghetti sauce!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make balsamic chicken- I left the chicken in the balsamic vinager for way too long... talk about nasty!!
Oh, And I can't seem to replicate Dad's chili no matter how hard I try, which is a tragedy!
