About this Cook
I am married with 4 kids and a step-daughter. I used to cook in restaurants, but after awhile, that takes all of the fun out of cooking. Now I don't have to work, so I take care of the kids while the hubby is working and get all of the meals on the table. with 5 kids total, it's not too different from cooking for tons of people, except I get more respect. ;-)
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking spaghetti & meat sauce. It's simple, my step-daughter can help make it and everyone loves it. When it comes to desserts, it has to be Pineapple dump cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A good family cooking tradition is, taste. You can follow a recipe all day long, but it's actually tasting your food that is going to make sure that it's to your liking.
My cooking triumphs
My Great Gramma's Chicken & Dumplings. So good and I never thought I'd be able to get the dumplings as soft and fluffy with the sauce as thick and rich. It took quite a long while before I could.
My cooking tragedies
No bake cookies. *sigh* They always turn out too runny and never set right.

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations
I have used this recipe for about a year now and even substitute Splenda for the sugar for my Mother-In-Law which is diabetic. (FYI: If you use Splenda, add about 1/4C more of milk) We just love it. We do use butter instead of oil as others have suggested. All out, a great recipe.

Honey Oatmeal Cookies
I loved these cookies. I did add just a shake of sugar to give it a little extra sweetness. Other than that, yummy. I just adored the taste of the honey in with the oatmeal cookie.

Beehive Cake
I didn't make a beehive out of this, but I made it in a single sheet, 13" I'm pretty sure. It turned out tasting great. We were having my husband's boss over for dinner and he just adored it. Thanks!
