Genuine Comfort Food! This is one of my family's favorites. With a total number of ratings over 2,700, I'm not sure I can say anything that someone else hasn't already said, but here goes: I make this as written with the addition of 2-3 chopped carrots and I also mash some of the potatoes up before adding the milk mixture. I also have used sliced deli blackforest ham which I chop and add half to cook with the potatoes and then add the other half in at the end. Great with grated old cheddar cheese on top and a crusty roll on the side.

When I was a teenager I used to babysit for a lady that made soup just like this. I have been searching for years for a recipe like it. This one is VERY close. Thank-you for submitting it!

Very Good! Just as it is. I've made this sauce a few times. It is great for sweet and sour meatballs over steamed rice! I have also used orange juice instead of pineapple which made it even more tangy :)
