About this Cook
I'm a vegetarian student, so that alone makes cooking a bit of a challenge. I'm not a picky eater by nature, but I'm extremely nitpicky about the vegetarian aspect of my food. If it's not 100% animal-free, I'm not eating it. I'm not a vegan, though, so I still eat eggs and dairy. I'm always interested in taking a non-vegetarian meal and making it veg-friendly. Like a puzzle. I love creating new ways to balance out meals, and finding shortcuts to suit my time limitations. I do a lot of baking for charity work, including bake sales and auctions, and I'm constantly bringing food to family, friends and even school for people to taste. When I'm really stressed out, I tend to be in the kitchen. Not for a stress-induced binge, no no, to bake something. My family still jokes about my "3AM exam-stress muffins". I think my biggest problem is probably that I make more than I can eat, and so my neighbours and family have really helped me by taking some off my hands. So far they haven't complained
My favorite things to cook
I don't have a specific category really of things I love to make. Though, if someone asks me to make something or if it's for charity work? Absolutely, that's my favourite kind of baking. There's something inherently freeing about knowing you won't get leftovers, so you can make whatever the heck you feel like. And it means a whole lot when someone requests something of ME, the humble not-so-fab cook of a student. Oh, but I do rather like cupcakes. So. ... I guess that's something?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every holiday, I'm in charge of bringing desserts. I love when I can let loose over my cookbooks and bake up a storm. I love contributing to the table, and creating those memories for those of us who particularly enjoy these family gatherings. And now as my grandparents are getting older, as are my aunts and the rest of the family, I like taking some of the workload from them. If I can make the holiday even a tiny bit easier on them, I'll do it.
My cooking triumphs
I think it would be the vegetarian dishes I've served to my meat-eating friends/family over the years. They've been completely won over, and I've even got my grandparents eating tofu! Teaching them about the healthy aspect to vegetarianism, and them liking it? A total success.
My cooking tragedies
Ohh boy. Too many to count.

Peanut Butter and Apple Sandwich
I've tried this toasted and I love it. I've also made one with equal parts PB and Cream Cheese, and half that amount of honey (or some drizzled over the apples instead of mixed into the spread). A favourite breakfast of mine during my student days.
