About this Cook
Growing up my family owned a restaurant and later my mother was a self employed baker. So, I decided to master cooking about 10 years ago (as my mother has done), just hasn't happened yet! I have 7 brothers & sisters with children of their own and 4 children myself and we all love to eat! Each family member has their specialties and I'm always on the look for something new and different.
My favorite things to cook
I really love to bake sweets, like cookies, bars, pies, and cheese cakes! I love meals that you can prepare, freeze, then pop in the oven when in a hurry. I guess traditional American food is what I cook most, but Chinese Food is my favorite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
That would be something my dad came up with at out restaurant, called cheaters, because our restaurant was next to weight watchers and many would come in to cheat on their diet. A special dough, sausage, and cheese put together just the right way! I haven't came across them anywhere else!
My cooking triumphs
I've managed to make an awesome cheesecake and some great side dishes that are staples during the holidays! I also do really well making cookies.
My cooking tragedies
Um...I once used "cool whip" or whipped cream instead of heavy whipping cream in a recipe for Thanksgiving years ago, but everyone was nice and ate the melting lopsided cake anyways.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
I guess I like my potatoes with more flavor. I understand the need for a mellow comfort food at times, but these were boring and bland. I was very disappointed with all the great reviews and wanted to say they tasted great...Sorry!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole
All 4 of my picky kids liked this recipe, so it gets 4 stats. I thought it was okay. Taste like mushy cornbread to me. I added garlic powder and chopped onion, but it was still a little bland. I also used 1 3/4 cup frozen corn instead of the canned whole corn. The addition of meat, maybe cheese or other seasoning would improve this recipe, and easily make it into a main dish. Tested out for a Thanksgiving side, but I will not use it...too similar to stuffing or cornbread dressing. Think I will go with "Slow Cooker Creamed Corn" for a side dish...try it out if you like cream cheese!

Pecan Pie V
I found my pie cooked very quickly, so beware and check often. This caused the top to over-brown and crack on top. It was messy to cut. I used a 9in deep dish crust and it was not enough to fill it properly...thankfully this was just a test run. The pie does not have the same texture as a regular pecan pie, it loses some of the shiny gelatin consistency, but the flavor is that of a regular pecan pie. I will stick to corn syrup recipes and keep this for back-up when I'm out of corn syrup. I give it 4 stars ONLY because it is a working emergency substitute for corn syrup.
