About this Cook
I love the four seasons-probably would never move out of the Buckeye state because of it. I am in the mental health field, contemplating on changing my career altogether to animal medicine! I have a bit of a southern twang, which a lot of people find it funny (being I'm not from the deep south, only Cincinnati south), and I'm rather tom-boyish. I love to play around, sometimes too much horse playing lands me in trouble! I love sports--baseball, football and basketball, an all out Ohio fan :)
My favorite things to cook
I monitor what I eat; I like to whop up a batch of fresh satueed vegetables. My boyfriend has borderline high cholesterol, which made it crucial for me to be more attentive to his diet needs. He is my guinea pig, I make dishes, he tries them and gives me feedback on what to do better next time. Currently I am attempting to master the art of slow cooking chili!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'll never be able to master my mom's ability to make everything from sctrach. My mom is capable of looking at a picture and replicate the same dish depicted. She's the most amazing cook--from main course to soups to deserts, just fantastic.
My cooking triumphs
I'm becoming more aware about the presentation of food now that I am preparing it. I've mastered a lot of dishes--I used to have Sunday night football fans coming over, I've whopped up healthy dishes and vegetables that they consumed without hesitation! I was proud of myself for tricking them!
My cooking tragedies
I've set many fire alarms off, burnt many skillets and easy meats (bacon, sausage). I'm impatient, I realized with cooking, it FORCES me to slow down and I enjoy that aspect of it. I learned not everything should be cooked on high heat.

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables
I added fresh chopped mushrooms and onions (that is my stable food). I love how it turned out moist and not dry! My boyfriend was in awe at the flavoring!

White Turkey Chili
I served it for a Buckeye game when I had guests over--everyone enjoyed it very much! I agree with shelly_md, it barely had a kick and I was pondering on what to add to give it a kick! The beans were a bit overwhelming, so I'd definitely cut it back next time! Delicious!

Spicy Chili Seasoning Mix
Unfortunately, I had to tweak it--dropping the serving amount down to 5 versus 40 listed, because of the change, it threw off the measurements, and I ended up eyeballing it. It still turned out fantastic, and I increased cayenne pepper since my boyfriend enjoys spicy dishes. I tried sirloin steak & ground, it was amazing. I added a bit of water to make it soupier. To make it more fall-festive like, I diced up yellow, orange and red peppers and some jalapenos, onions and mushrooms (all fresh). It gave it a nice coloring! We let it simmer too to give it a full flavor! We love the kick that it had!
