About this Cook
Well I started cooking for myself as soon as I could open a can when allowed, in high school I ran a burger joint on the weekends for a couple years then became a prep cook at a local finer dinning est. called Biscuitroot Park where I worked the weekly prep, sauces entrees etc, while running the lunch duties for the back kitchen ( not alone mind you)the resturant sat around 130 and had approx. 140 menu options. When I left there I moved to Seattle, WA where I became a cooks assistant slash house boy for a sorority at the U of W which led to being the breakfast cook and weekend cook promptly and by the time I was 21 I was the head cook at another sorority there where I stayed on for 4 years took some time off and did a one year stint at yet another sorority there. Took an eleven year break from cooking minus my volunteer work for the Eagles lodge here in Moscow beginning in 2003 through the present and then this fall accepted the position of head cook at yet another sorority here at the
My favorite things to cook
New things are great I enjoy using my cooking common sense and throwing together new things for feedback most has been well received which is nice. Cooking for girls involves a lot of salad and chicken, I know I have a limited arsenal of recipes which is kind of why I'm here so looking forward to learning and sharing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always enjoyed the food at any of our family meals and felt surrounded be good stuff all my life to the point where nothing really stands out but the smell of homemade grub from a block away breads mmmm, home made horse radish strikes a bell freezer jams and jellies and pert near any thing auntie Judy stirred up but those cinnimon rolls wow. Grandma Fay's pies and moms lasagna were some fav's. Oh and grandpa Lewis's breakfasts were to die for.
My cooking triumphs
Little ones all the time I'm not to into ego I love it when there's nothing left and the garbage cans are empty this makes me warm and fuzzy 4 sure.Especially when no one walks away wantin'.
My cooking tragedies
My first formal dinner as a head cook at a sorority was a disaster on two pre-WWII flat burners I boiled water for pasta which I had ordered but not opened and it took two hours to get enough water ready then added a box of fettucini noodles (white) and opened the second box only to find spinach noodles which don't cook the same as the other so my pasta went to mush trying to reach al dente' and to make matters worse my veggie was peas so for dinner we had green mush peas and salad green and needles to say the girls never let me live that one down. It was truly horrible to look at and was the topic of many laughs fortunately for me they gave me some slack and I never flopped that bad again to date nock on my head. You can screw up a meal or two at a sorority and get away with it just don't ever run 80 girls out of TP.
