About this Cook
I am 30 years old and have loved cooking since I was a little girl.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies. My mother always complained that she couldn't make a decent cookie and it inspired me to start experimenting with recipes and try my best to put out a great cookie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I married into a Polish Family and am still learing their traditions and hope to incorporate them into my everyday cooking. My son is 3 and I'd like him to grow up wih fond memories of his mom cooking special meals.
My cooking triumphs
Probably when I became head cook of an Independent Living Facility that specialized in "home cooking" as opposed to "hospital food". I was only 21 and took over from the previous cook and within the first few weeks the residents who had previously hated the food started loving it again, and I also took the kitchen out of the red and was turning a profit within the year.
My cooking tragedies
Probably when I catered a meal for a wedding of 150 people who had RSVP'd and only 50 showed up! The lack of people there wasn't the wedding parties fault or my fault, but we ended up with a TON of leftover food. The bride and groom said they'd just freeze all of the leftovers and I'm sure they are still eating our Fried Chicken to this day-1 year later!

Fruit and Vegetable Pork
I don't care for pork chops or sauerkraut and LOVED this. Instead of doing 4 chops only did 2 (normally hubby is the only one who'll eat chops). Next time I make I'll definitely make the 4 chops but will double the rest of the ingredients (they were THAT good!). I never added brown sugar to sauerkraut before but loved the result. Will make again and again and again....

Dill Pickle Meatloaf
I think this is great! I don't like to substitute in recipes the first time I make something but in this case I had to make a few changes. I only had ground turkey and I used bread crumbs instead of bread. One thing I would recommend is doubling the sauce!!! It's excellent. Also, dont' be tempted to use relish instead of the pickles to me it's just not the same! I also think next time I'll bake this without the sauce on top first so I can get the nice crust then for the last 10 min or so add the glaze. I also forgot to add the salt (ooops just skipped it by accident) but I really don't think it needs the salt.

Grilled Asian Chicken
This was OK, I discovered I don't like Sesame Oil too much-it just tasted like burnt sesame to me. I doubled the sauce but left the Sesame Oil at 4 tsp but it still left a mild burnt taste in my mouth. DH thought it was OK.
