Jerk Seasoning

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
This was alright. A bit too spicy for our tastes. We used it on chicken and then grilled it. I think I might leave out a bit of the cayenne as it was just overpowering. I did sprinkle some lime juice on the cooked chicken which helped.

Broccoli Beef II

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2004
This recipe was pretty good. I let the beef marinate for a few hours before preparing. I also left out the green onions since my family doesn't like them. I used fresh mushrooms and fresh broccoli. It tasted great! Aside from being a tad bland, otherwise it was very good. It was very easy to prepare and I can see many different ways of preparing it (adding carrots, subbing fresh green beans for the broccoli, etc). I will make this again!

Beef Tips

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
Wow wow wow! This recipe was delicious. I was a little leary of trying this, as most beef recipes end up very tough and chewy. Not this one! I followed the recipe to the letter. I seemed to have A LOT of sauce, though. I couldn't get it to thicken. Next time I will omit a cup of water (or maybe even more). I would have rated this 5 stars if not for the thin sauce. However, it did have a wonderful slightly-spicy taste. I added some sauteed mushrooms to my plate, and served with herbed mashed potatoes and a veggie. The meat was so very tender, I could cut it with my fork. I did notice a salty taste as well, and I would probably omit the extra salt next time too. I was VERY impressed with how this turned out, and it was so easy! I will definately be making it again.

American Chop Suey II

Reviewed: May 13, 2004
This was good, but I added garlic, mushrooms and a lot of seasoning. It was otherwise bland. I think it makes a wonderful base where you can then add your own extra ingredients. Next time I want to try it with corn. My kids ate it, so I will definately make again.

Perfect for a cold winter day. Very easy to do and it smells great as it cooks and simmers in the kitchen. I will definately be making this again.

Banana Blast I

Quick and easy to make. My 4 y/o and her friend liked it. I thought it lacked taste. I would make again but add either more fruit or some sweetener. Good base for smoothies.

Baked Chicken and Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2002
This chicken is excellent. I used 2 cans of cream of chicken as I didn't have any cream of celery. I also didn't have enough mozz cheese and I will definately add more next time. The stuffing was a great topping and my husband loved it. I will definately be making this again!

Tommy's Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2002
This was alright. I took a previous suggestion and added 1/4 cup Dijonnaise mustard. This added a little zip but it was still kinda bland. It was a nice way to use leftover ham but nothing extraordinarily special. My 3 y/o did not care for it. My husband did like it though.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2002
These are definately the BEST brownies! The only thing wrong with them is that they don't make enough! They are very fudgy and the frosting is great. The frosting was a bit dry so I added a tablespoon of vegetable oil and it turned out great! These brownies have become our new favorite dessert! I won't make the boxed stuff again!

Broiled Herb Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2002
This chicken turned out absolutely wonderful! I took a few of the other reviewers suggestions. I used 1/4 cup of butter, melted it and then added the spices. I punctured holes into the chicken so that the juices could really get inside. It smelled wonderful coming out of my oven and was so very tender! The taste was incredible and it was so very easy and fast to make! This will definately become a regular in my house.

Self-Filled Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2002
These cupcakes are FABULOUS! They were very moist and chocolatey. I did not frost them, and they were perfect. I also had a bit of filling left over and simply baked it alone in muffin cups. Those turned out delish also! I had enough mix to make 2 dozen muffins. I will definately be making these again!

Honey Bun Cake I

I made this last weekend. Nothing spectacular but pretty good. I didn't use the frosting. I just sprinkled more of the cinammin/brown sugar mixture on the top. It came out pretty good. I would make it again.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2002
This chicken was alright. There were TONS of positive reviews for this so I've been wanting to try it. My husband and I made it last night for dinner. I didn't think it was anything spectacular. I didn't have much ranch dressing, so maybe by adding more it could be better. I just didn't think there was a ton of flavor. It was alright, but I have other recipes I liked a lot better. I doubt I will make it again. Sorry.

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

This sauce was alright. I used the grated parmesan in the can and it also turned out grainy. I added some broccoli and poured it over penne pasta. It was good. Next time I will use fresh grated paremesan.

Applesauce Cake VI

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2002
This is a wonderful cake! I followed the suggestions made by another reviewer. I substituted an extra 1/2 cup applesauce for 1/2 cup oil. I also used a bundt pan. I had to cook for 50 minutes, and it probably could have baked a little longer, but it was fine. It didn't come out of the pan clean, that is my only complaint, otherwise it was DELICIOUS! I didn't use anything to top it, but it would be great with a cream cheese frosting. I will do that next time. My husband took some back to work with him to share with his work buddies. He absolutely raved about it! It was so easy, I will make this again and again!
