Soft Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
These are quite tasty. Soft and chocolatly. I doubled the chocolate and added 1 tsp. of instant coffee. I also sifted in the flour (1/2 whole wheat) and cocoa. I had a hankering for chocolate cookies and I was eating these about half an hour later. Thanks for the recipe;)

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
These are really good! I made the recipe as is, except I added 1 tablespoon of instant coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon of water. The texture is fantastic, but as other viewers said- super sweet. I think I'll cut out a full cup of sugar the next time I make these. I don't like things too sweet, so if you do, keep the recipe as written. I've been looking for a rich, chocolate dessert and these are it!

Blueberry Strata

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2011
This is a great dish-but not as is. I followed other folks suggestions and used less cream cheese. I used about 2/3 of a an 8oz brick and that was plenty and I pinched off little bits with my fingers into the mixture as opposed to 1/2" pieces. I also doubled the maple syrup to sweeten it up and added about 1 t. of cinnamon. I only used about 8 eggs and that was plenty. I served mine with maple syrup and not the blueberry syrup. This was a huge hit for our Mother's Day brunch.

French Bread

This was fun to make, but the end product was dense and the flavor wasn't that great. I'll keep hunting. I think a little sugar would have helped.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
I halved this recipe and it turned out nice. It looks beautiful and spreads nicely. I wanted a richer flavor. I know this sounds crazy considering the butter and amount of chocolate, but it not THE recipe. I'll keep hunting. I made this to go on a chocolate cake and the birthday girl loved it.

Pie Crust III

This crust is easy, quick and flaky but is missing the butter flavor you get from a traditional crust. That being said, this is a great recipe!

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

This is delish! I used fresh strawberries because I don't care for the texture of defrosted frozen strawberries. I prepared mine in a spring-form pan and it made a beautiful presentation on my pink cake plate. LOVE this recipe!!

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

These are pretty good. My husband viewed "tomato sauce" as spaghetti sauce and these still turned out good.

Leftover Chicken Croquettes

These are so good! My husband made these for us and he added garlic, parmesan and we topped the final product with marinara sauce. It tasted like chicken parmesan and I can't wait to make these again!

Fun to make, very sticky. Don't forget to sift the powdered sugar because mine had pock marks. Overall a great recipe that I can't wait to make again.

Simple Carnitas

I didn't like this very much. It was too salty and I didn't like eating the peppercorns. They were like little nasty landmines in my food.

Cajun Crab Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
This was really good. I used milk instead of cream and was happy I did because this soup was really rich. I used canned crab and was happy with the results. I did add extra cayenne and added a small diced potato. I will make this again. And lastly I used 1 3/4 cup of chicken broth and 1/4 cup sherry because I didn't have any clam juice and was worried about this recipe being too fishy. I will make again.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
This was pretty good, but a little too heavy for me. I cut down on the sugar, added lots of pepper, about a teaspoon of grainy mustard and omitted the onion and poppy seeds because I didn't have either of them. Over all this has a really good flavor and I will make again. Next time I'll use more vinegar and cut down on the Miracle Whip. Thank you!!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
These are so good!! I made these with low fat sour cream, and shared 1/4 of a strip of bacon per half potato, as well as cut the butter by half and these were still creamy and delicious!! I also added a dash of garlic powder and onion powder. I'll be making these for the rest of my life.

These were good, but never got crispy. I did bake mine on a cooling rack on a cookie sheet, so maybe that was the problem.

Szechwan Shrimp

This is gross. I took the advice of others and doubled the sauce- big mistake. The sauce is grossed and drowned all the other flavors. I added broccoli and bamboo shoots and ultimately tossed this stuff in the trash.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

I cannot over emphasize how great these pretzels are! The absolute best I've ever eaten. My only alternation is that I basted each pretzel with melted butter right out of the oven. I served mine with homemade mustard, cream cheese and pumpkin butter.
