About this Cook
I live in Ventura with my wonderful husband and love to cook for my freinds and family...my sisters are my biggest fans and my biggest challenge is making something my husband likes
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are savory appetizers and main dishes. I love complicated dishes and spending all day in the kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents are both excellent, experimental cooks. Lumpia's are a family favorite and my favorite guilty pleausre(they are fried)
My cooking triumphs
I make a great Thankgiving dinner! (the stuffing is a recipe I stole from my sister, Jasmine)
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list. My latest was a recipe I put together that involved wine poached pears, homemade sausage and braised cabbage all stuffed inside some homemade bread- it was awful!

Buttery Soft Pretzels
I cannot over emphasize how great these pretzels are! The absolute best I've ever eaten. My only alternation is that I basted each pretzel with melted butter right out of the oven. I served mine with homemade mustard, cream cheese and pumpkin butter.

Chocolate Baklava
This is really good and super sweet! I used semi sweet baking chocolate and didn't really measure out the sugar and cinnamon and I used pecans and it was really good. I could have done without the orange juice in the syrup. I will definitely make again.

Crab Tartlets
These were good, but not great. They were more like mini quiches than anything else. The prep work was a little more intensive than I had anticipated because not one store in my town (not a small one) carried phyllo shells, only the dough, so I had to make my own shells. They are very pretty, but they look better than they taste.
