About this Cook
I love to cook and find new recipes! I prefer vegetarian dishes, however I do eat fish. Every night my husband and I try something new and this website has been so valuable to me for years. I run marathons and have completed 5 this year. Looking forward to travelling to distant marathons in 2010 to experience different cultures and foods!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy Thai flavours, although not necessarily noodles. Spicy and sweet is my favourite combination.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everyone in my family loves to cook with different levels of adventurousness. Most of our family gatherings revolve around food and it can get quite decadent. My brother and sister are top cooks. While I like to get close to their competencies, I'm in the middle between my other sister who gets creative with store bought foods:P
My cooking triumphs
Well...I haven't had one yet, perhaps a series of mini-triumphs. I did manage to save a family Thanksgiving once where I had it catered with home cooked foods! I was designated to host and got behind because of work:)
My cooking tragedies
I once baked very expensive fish marinated in the most brilliantly tasty sweet glaze. Before I put it in the oven I lay lime rounds down the top...it had taken me hours to create the entire meal from scratch and after several successful courses I presented the fish wrapped in leaves. We peeled them back and on the first forkful everyone's faces puckered. The fish had turned incredibly bitter! DISASTER. We enjoyed the rest of the wine and seconds of the first courses.

Cranberry-Pumpkin Cookies
I had to use up extra cranberries and pumpkin from a muffin recipe and whipped these up thowing in an extra cup of white chocolate chips. Perfect!

Cranberry Pumpkin Muffins
These are a hit! My husband is a muffin addict and very discerning. I only made a dozen (they're a bit small) and by his request a second 2 dozen batch is baking right now. The smell of our home is incredible. I melted margarine because we were out of oil and it worked very well.

Cream of Cauliflower Soup II
I used 2 sweet potatos, baby carrots, and my cauliflower was gigantic so I used twice the milk, sherry, nutmeg, etc. This was really great for a lazy Sunday night paired with a spinach salad with feta, dried cranberries, sliced almonds, and balsamic vinagrette. Delicious, easy, and will definitely make again.
