About this Cook
I grew up as an Army brat, so I had to learn to cook when mom had to work and dad was out of town or flying. I joined the Army when I was 17 and met my husband. We have one beautiful daughter who loves to help mommy in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking, period. I don't have any particular favorites when it comes to what I cook. Anything fast on a busy day is my favorite thing!
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Thanksgiving, my mom and two sisters always cook the dinner. The sisters have since taken over and every year, Grandma's famous stuffing is made. It always reminds us of when we were little girls, trying to learn the "secrets".
My cooking triumphs
Jambalaya. I always get that request, especially for potlucks!
My cooking tragedies
TUNA NOODLE CASSAROLE. My husband hates it, and the first year we were married, I kept making it; he kept eating it. He didn't want to hurt my feelings and tell me it was gross! What a sweetheart! I haven't made it since.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
This cornbread recipe is awesome! I was so sick of using the blue box to make cornbread. This was 10 times better than any I've ever had. It was super easy to make, and took almost no time at all. My daughter even thought it was cake!!

Eastern North Carolina Barbeque Sauce
My husband and I had a pretty big pig-pickin and used this sauce. My husband's from Goldsboro, NC, and he was so happy when this sauce was used. Even the guests who we considered "yankees" loved it! Thanks for giving my hubby a taste of home!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli
I like to add carrots, celery and smoked sausage to this. The veggies add more nutrition, and the smoked sausage brings a smoky layer to the whole thing. A little cumin adds slightly more depth. I make a double batch and it gets eaten up for lunches.
