About this Cook
I am a SAHM of 4 boys (1, 3, 6, 12), husband, 2 dogs, and a cat -- busy life, and somedays it seems I spend all day in the kitchen (either cooking or cleaning!) I wouldn't trade it for the world though -- really blessed to be able to stay home and make "mom" my job!
My favorite things to cook
With 4 sons (and husband) I have had to become a quick and thrifty cook. Thankfully, they all have very few dislikes, so almost anything goes. I sometimes struggle with "what to make for supper", though -- this site is great for ideas on using what's in my freezer!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My boys LOVE veggies, so putting these up in the freezer has become a summer tradition now -- Beans, Peas, Corn, Beets, peppers, tomatoes, asparagus, brussel sprouts -- all that stuff other paretns struggle to get their kids to eat -- I LOVE IT!!
My cooking triumphs
I have finally mastered homemade "Beef and Noodles" like my MIL made for her kids -- took me a few times to master the homemade noodles, but now husband kids rave about them! Also - when we are out of something like barbeque sauce, taco seasoning, etc. the comment lately has been, "Can't you just MAKE some? You can make ANYTHING, mom!" Glad they have so much confidence in my cooking! I have also become good at cooking things in BULK since I have become not only a mother to 4 sons, but also a Cub Scout Leader. Tacos and all the fixin's for 120 people for the awards banquet -- no problem! Beef Stew for 45 people for the campout this weekend -- no problem! Hot Beef sandwiches after church for extended family -- CAN DO!! :) (Big Stock pots and an electric roaster were on my Xmas list last year!)
My cooking tragedies
I made beef stroganoff at least twice a month the first year I was married -- I liked it and it was easy. New husband finally said -"ENOUGH" -- PLEASE stop with this -- I REALLY don't like it!! Too funny how the first year of marriage goes, huh?? The only other thing that ALWAYS turns out badly is Jello salads....I just cannot get them right and have given up. I'll let my sister-in-law bring them to the family gatherings and get the rave reviews from my boys as they don't get these little goodies at home! :)

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
I read reviews and added the suggested extra flour. Also, thought I had chocolate chips, but did not. Substituted Cinnamon chips I found in the pantry........MMMMMMmmmm, good! I may make them like that all the time! These stayed moist for a week (before they were gone) stored in only a plastic coffee can. Delicious -- thank-you for the new recipe!

Morning Glory Muffins I
These were good -- what I was looking for. Family liked them as well. Made half the batch w/o raisens for DH. Mixed in a handful of granola instead of nuts. Will make these again!

Ham and Beans
I was looking for the ham HOCK & bean recipe that gramma used to make. Tried this in the crockpot, except just threw the Hocks in and let them cook all day with the beans. Cut the meat off the hocks at the end...........MMMMMM!! This was a great improvement over just beans, onion & hocks! THANKS!
