About this Cook
I am a graduate student finishing my masters in June. I have been cooking with my mom ever since I can remember but really taken off with it on my own since college. I love to cook and am always trying new things and reinventing old things.
My favorite things to cook
I love all kinds of food. I especially love soups, pastas, and baking. I have probably tried 20 chocolate chip cookie recipes in search of that perfect one. I also love creating the presentation, appetizers are a lot of fun to get creative with. One must try recipe is the Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is German so I love cooking recipes that have been passed down through the family. We have family christmas drink called Wassail that is to die for, along with some traditional German dishes. Anything with sauerkraut and you cant go wrong!
My cooking triumphs
Ahh well perfecting soups and baked good that are temperamental is always triumph. The biggest triumphs for me are when I take a basic idea and then create something all my own and have it turn out wonderfully.
My cooking tragedies
Well no specifics come to mind but I know there have been many a things that were less than desired and a few that outright sucked. Sometimes vegan dishes and be a dismal flop.

Dark Molten Chocolate Cakes
This was mind-blowing delicious!! My friends raved the whole evening! Some suggestions, definitely add the 1 tsp. of espresso powder and vanilla as was suggested by another reviewer, also I used Ghirardelli chocolate 75% cocoa, it melts nicer making for a smoother richer consistency of the molten center. Make sure not to overcook, when the top puffs up and there is no longer visible batter its time to take out. I greased the ramekins with butter and dusted with cocoa powder and sugar, they slipped right out! The cocoa powder doesn't leave white like flour. Amazing dessert, don't be gun shy they are a cinch to make and you will have a hit!

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce
Delicious and creative way to enjoy asparagus, even for those aren't crazy about asparagus. I follow other reviewers suggestions and swapped the ratios of soy sauce to balsamic. Also broiled in my toaster oven to cut down heat in the kitchen. Turned out fabulously!
