Very very good! I added panko bread crumbs and a little more seasoning to the recipe, (salt and garlic powder) and we were not disappointed. The simplicty alone is worth five stars!

Chocolate Scotch Whiskey Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
DELICIOUS!!! I'm glad I made this cake for my whiskey loving guy...I made a couple of changes: I didnt grind the almonds quite as finely as I was supposed to, I left out the raisins, I added a small scoop of semi sweet choc chips in addition to the german chocolate. I made whip cream from this site and added whiskey to it =) yum..it added a nice light touch to the dense chocolate cake, AND I made chocolate ganache from this site (added whiskey to that too) instead of the topping the recipe suggested...Dont be afraid of the whiskey taste being too overpowering..chocolate and whskey are the BEST combination!!! We loved this cake..

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
I doubled up on everything as I was cooking a feast. I thought the sauce was pretty good but did lack authentic italian flavor, in my opinion. I used spicy italian sausage (personal preference) and added tons more garlic. I was told it was great and I thought it was pretty good..just not the worlds best..

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
I wanted to love this and it was pretty good, but not five stars for me. I didnt have butter flavor cooking spray so I used regular cooking sray on one batch and melted butter on the other..needless to say that worked well. Everyone in the house like the chips, thought they were tasty and different. The Fruit salsa was a little tart for my taste but it didnt stop me from eating some! I imagine a simple change of fruit would make a difference.

Carla's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
Made this twice this week..the first time it was outrageous..the second time not so much..and lumpy..The only thing I did different the second time is put the marshmellow cream in the microwave to soften a bit, melted the cream cheese a bit also..so the texture was comletely different, even after refrigerating overnight. SO if it doesnt turn out the first time, give it another try. I still cant believe I ate THAT MUCH cream cheese this week!! ugh! UPDATE: made again with the addition of 1/4 can eagle brand..DONT DO IT...overpowers it...had to add the rest of the cream cheese and more cool whip, at this point not sure if I can even tatse it right anymore!

Lebanese Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
My Lebanese brother in law used to make this often..the only difference is he served it with a side of garlic mayo sauce to dip the food in and he sliced the potatoes instead of quartered..glad I found the recipe as my sister is no longer married to him!

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
followed the suggestions by replacing water with vanilla, and used half white, half brown sugar also. It was the longest hour waiting for them to be done but I snuck a few out ahead of time and they were soo good. They taste like the ones from the mall. My only suggestion, make a double batch cause they arent going last!

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
I was quite pleased with myself, I mean this recipe after making this. I mixed yellow and orange food coloring so my sauce wasn't exactly red but it was good enough. The chicken was good without the sauce as well.

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
This was fantastic! I bought two large graham cracker crusts to layer it in, and so it only needed one bag of double stuffed Oreos for the middle and the top. I also topped with cool whip when I served it. It was soooooooo good!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2007
Yum! These were so good and just what I was looking for. We recently had some cookies made my a chef who used to work in the white house. My son said these were better! My picky husband said they were a little dry to him but I have no idea what he's talking about, they were outrageous! I added an extra tsp. of salt, baking powder and vanilla as suggested in other reviews. This will be my new recipe for cookies!

Marinated Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
This was really really good. I made three types of kabobs with chicken, pork and prime rib, each with different seasonings/marinade. This one was the best. I also used it to base the veggie kabobs. I will be making it again soon! Oh, and I only marinaded it for a little over an hour.

Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken

This is soooooo good. My sister in law is from the phillipines and makes this when she is visiting us. This recipe is just as good as hers. Now I can have it whenever I want and it's sooooo easy! By the way, I added carrots and potatos to mine and served with rice.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I was very dissappointed in this recipe.I had a 14 pound Turkey and after 3 1/2 hours the legs had fallen away from the turkey. I still had hopes in the flavor and moistness but it was extremely dry and had no flavor. I made it for Thanksgiving so I ended up spooning the pan drippings over the sliced turkey to give it some sort of juiciness. I will stick to my original recipe and bag cooking method.

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
This turned out great. As far as the sugar goes, I used over a cup. Once I flipped the flan out of the pan there was still some hardened sugar left in the pie pan so I put it on the stove with a little water, melted it again and poured over the top. My husband is cuban and a picky flan critic and he loved it, texture, color and all. Make sure not to overcook the sugar and make it too dark.

Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2006
This was an easy recipe. I used two 2 pound roasts and it was done in eight hours. I did trim ALOT of fat before cooking and even during the shredding. The sauce was very runny so I gave it four stars. What made it taste like a five star recipe was that We used Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce on the sandwhiches after using tongs to dip up the meat. My family was impressed and dad said it was the best BBQ sandwich he's ever had and he's from the south. SO I will use this again! (servedon onion buns with texas toast, corn on the cob, onion rings and coleslaw)

Quiche (Southern Egg Pie)

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
I made this without the crust and it still kept together well, However, it may have been that I used sharp sheddar but this was so so rich we could not bare to eat more than a small piece. The flavor was good just way too strong. Im willing to try again but using a crust mild cheddar and less sausage.
