About this Cook
I am married to a terrific man & we have four awesome children. We are missionaries, based out of Orlando, FL. I learned to cook from both of my parents, but I inherit my LOVE for cooking from my father, who always made delicious meals.
My favorite things to cook
It depends on the day or season of my life. I really enjoy trying new recipes, which is one reason I LOVE allrecipes.com. I tell everyone I know about this website! I like to try to turn really good , unhealthy dishes into healthier ones. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Fortunately I have a wonderful family who forgives when my dishes don't come out so good.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Lots of different Christmas cookies for the holiday season, Turkey and the works, getting everyone involved in the process, Egg and sausage bake for Christmas morning. My husband makes pancakes almost every Sunday for our family.

Doreen's Ham Slices on the Grill
Yummy! I used this marinade and baked the ham while it was sitting in the juice/sauce. I didn't have enough lemon, so I added some orange juice. Very good!

Gooey Butter Cookies
Yummy! I just made these with a couple of additions & changes and they are delicious! I used some lemon extract instead of vanilla. I added dried cranberries and white chocolate chips and didn't bother chilling or rolling in powdered sugar. I just scooped them onto the baking tray and about a minute before they were done, I opened the oven and flattened a bit with a fork. We loved these & will make again. I think next time I will make the same way, but maybe also add some chopped nuts and roll them in shredded coconut.

Greg's Southern Biscuits
We loved these! The only change I made was to use butter-flavored shortening in place of lard since that's what I had on hand. Everything else I followed exactly as written. Excellent recipe! The first time I've made buttermilk biscuits from scratch and this recipe is wonderful. I am sure they are even better using lard! Thanks, I will make these again.
