About this Cook
I am currently a SAHM that loves to cook. I am always trying new recipes but most of the time I forget to come back and add my review. I love to try to make everything from scratch!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake probably most of all but I am up for anything! I love to create things that most people have to buy in the store.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family cooking traditions are that I pretty much cook everything because I enjoy it. My husband makes everything on the grill but that's pretty much the extend of his cooking experience or enjoyment - so we fit together well. My daughter is just starting to learn.
My cooking triumphs
It is so pleasing to make things that my family loves. I love that my mother in law tells me eating in my kitchen is like eating out. Most of my friends get nagged by their mother in law but mine loves my cooking! :o)
My cooking tragedies
My worst cooking attempt was a friend of mine gave me a "family" recipe. She is Chinese and I was new to learning to cook that type of food. The food turned out horribly. Since this attempt I've asked my neighbor (also Chinese) about the food item and was told that he had never heard of such a thing. Hmmm... makes me wonder what gives!?!?

Swiss Steak Quick and Easy
I made this dish last night and it was pretty good. Neither my daughter or I had ever had Swiss Steak but it is something that my hubby had once and requested I master (LOL). I made both noodles and mashed potatoes to see which we liked better and they both liked the noodles better but I didn't care either way. Here are the ways I changed it up though, and it worked for us... I deglazed the pan after browning the meat with beef broth and added about 1 cup because my hubby always likes extra "sauce". It was still really skimpy on sauce and I started to worry about the tomato to beef flavor ratio so I added 1 - 15 oz can of tomato sauce. It turned out great and my hubby and DD requested to have it again soon! :o)

Sausage Gravy
I wanted to make this for my husband even though it was something I had never liked. I followed this recipe but added the butter from "Bob's" recipe and it was wonderful. Even I liked it! :>)

Strawberry Pie II
I've made this recipe several times so far and my first time was for an Easter dessert. We love it! I did however make some adjustments. I added 4tbsp. of cornstarch & 1 tbsp. lemon juice as suggested by others and used 2 quarts of strawberries since I make deep dish pies. I didn't double the sugar or anything else - just also added 1 small box of instant strawberry jello. It's perfect.
