Thank you for this recipe. I've tried several recies and this is my favorite. I've tried for a long time to make chili without the tangy sour tomato taste. This recipe takes care of that. I would have given 5 stars, but I made a few minor changes and I'm still not sure I like the full 2 lbs of meat in it. It's a little too thick for my taste. I used Pace Picante Med for the salsa, used kidney beans and black beans, and since I couldn't find William's mix, I used French's Chili-O and added a little sugar. I'm entering this in a church chili contest next weekend!
Update -- My chili was not the favorite. Almost everyone at church preferred a thinner chili. However my minister would only eat mine and came back for 2nds. Actually, I came home with only enough for 1 more bowl, so it was good, just not the winner. I think my part of the country is not used to chili being that thick.
