About this Cook
It's so much fun seeing how good you can make something or if you can make it BETTER than you remember it at a favorite restaurant and trying different recipes and learning what's going to taste good before you even make it!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking gourmet foods - the different blends of herbs, spices, and oils together to creat a delightful Mediterranean taste.
My favorite family cooking traditions
So far the only cooking tradition my family has is dinner, lol! I have done a few holidays and I like to make on each the Gourmet Classic Sweet Potatoes for my hubby.
My cooking triumphs
Flan! Creme brulee!! I always thought it was too difficult, little did I know how easy it was ... and delicious!
My cooking tragedies
Gravy - first Christmas - had to try it FOUR times before it actually came out, lol. And the ham too!! That was a sad pathetic mess - lesson #1 in holiday cooking: BUY BONE-IN HAM - no other ham will do. lol!

Holly's Hummus
Well I totally changed this recipe since I didn't have all the ingredients. I left out the olives, garlic, and cilantro and substituted the closest thing I had: about a tsp. of onion powder. It turned out fabulous any way and my hubby now wants to open a hummus shop after tasting it.

Wonderful Chicken Curry Salad
Yum! I searched for a chicken salad recipe that didn't have celery because I didn't have any and found this. I actually only had four of the ingredients - mayo, chicken, curry, and grapes and used onion powder for the onion, but it was delicious any way! The curry adds a nice heat (but not spicy) to the chicken, and the grapes an opposite cooling touch.

Garlic Prime Rib
Absolutely perfect! I only had a 3 lb. roast and used the same cooking instructions except for roasting it for only 45 minutes at 325 degrees. It came out well done, but fortunately still moist. Next time with the smaller roast I might roast it at 500 degrees for 10 minutes then roast at 325 for 30 minutes. I look for trying it out at a medium well doneness!!
