Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Perfect. I used 1/2 cup lemon juice instead of the fresh lemons because I did not have them on hand. I like my lemon desserts to be tart which is why I went with that particular amount. I will make this again!

Butterscotch Pie I

Very yummy-creamy-good, my first meringue and it turned out beautifully. My only complaint is that the filling did not taste as butter-scotchey as I would have liked. I would make this again using a dark brown sugar instead of the light that I had on hand and I would add a little more butter.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Good tender bread with crusty exterior. Tasted great along side the vegetable soup I prepared. I would cut down on the salt the next time. I suspect that this bread would be great toasted on the stove top or used in making seasoned croutons and bread crumbs!

German Apple Cake I

Yum-Yum-Yum. This was my first apple cake and from now on will be a regular for me. I got rave reviews. I made this into a roll cake (which I don't recommend because I had a devil of a time trying to salvage- this obviously moist and luscious cake is not meant to be rolled,) and I included a cream cheese/pecan filling. I used Jonagold apples- my personal favorite- and grated them instead of chopping. This is an excellent cake recipe.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Yuck. I was hoping for a traditional, chewy, "hand-tossed" pizzeria-type of crust. This was like eating freshly-baked bread with pizza toppings. I'm going back to take-out pizza.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

*This gets an extra star! Yum, Yum! This was the best roasted chicken I had ever eaten. I used a packet of Lipton Garlic Soup mix inside and out, plus quartered an onion- leaving the skin on- and stuffed it into the cavity. We had someplace to go the next day after placing it in the oven so I turned the oven down a couple of hours early. No matter. The heavenly smell that greeted us at the door reassured me! I prepared the rest of my meal while it "rested" and frequently spooned the juices over the top of the crackly brown, well-seasoned skin. I sure got the kudos on this one! This is THE only way to do a roasted chicken from here on out!!

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Pure Chocolate Heaven! I doubled this recipe and made it into a sheet cake for my large chocolate-lovin' family. As per another review I replaced the boiling water with coffee. I replaced the milk in the frosting with coffee as well. Everyone felt extra "Happy" after eating the cake, (which didn't last long, by the way). This cake lives up to it's name. It is perfectly chocolate-y and perfectly delicious.

Apple Crisp II

Yummy! I had just two apples to use up so I scaled the recipe way down (which is plenty for my beau and I). The only thing I did different was to use lemon juice in place of the water which satisfies my desire to have the apple filling a little on the tangy side. We ate this with vanilla icecream. I would make this again.

Double Chocolate Mocha Trifle

This is one of my favorite desserts. I don't know anybody who has tried it that dosen't like it. This is also good using Butterfinger candy bars in place of the toffee bars. Makes a fantastic presentation in a trifle dish.

Old English Cream Pie Filling

WOW! I am always a box of pudding mix away from a dessert and never have it on hand. The ingredients needed for this filling are always in my kitchen. I was in an experimental mood and scaled this recipe way down just so I could "taste" and fiddle around with this recipe. I am very glad I did. This basic vanilla pudding is just as tasty as the popular cook & serve boxed kind. Also, I spooned a small amount into a smaller dish and sprinkled a bit of Hershey's unsweetened cocoa into it. I kept adjusting until I found just the right color and taste, and BINGO: delicious chocolate pudding suitable as is or for a pie. I'm looking forward to adding a variety of different ingredients for a wider range of spectacular desserts! Thanks a lot!!

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

*Outstanding (Note the extra star). The strips of steak were fork-tender. Because I don't care much for soy sauce I used plenty of garlic salt instead. I served this on a fluffy bed of rice. I will make this again!
