About this Cook
I'm a mom of 3 with a full-time career and usually prepare fast or crockpot meals on weekdays and meals that require longer preparation on Sundays.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and try new entrees. I've been baking since I was 11 years old. It's fun to try new recipes and find new family favorites. I test new entree recipes on my kids - they are very honest and great judges.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a family of great cooks who never measure anything. I'm often asking my mom to measure everything she is doing for one of her meals to share with me how to make it. Our holiday meals are traditional from past generations. I've adjusted them only slightly to begin new traditions for my children.
My cooking triumphs
Most of my cooking experiences are triumphs. I rarely sway from a recipe, however, most recently I made several changes to a vegetable soup recipe as I was cooking and it turned out fabulous.
My cooking tragedies
Most recently I made a 'caramel cake' from a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I was so excited about this cake and looking forward to sharing it with my family at Christmas. It was aweful. I posted an update on BHG website to inform the recipe was flawed and learned that I wasn't the only one who experienced this 'tragedy'.

All American Apple Pie
Loved it! Used store bought crust and added 1/4 cup oatmeal and 2 Tbl brown sugar to topping. Baked for close to an hour and crust was perfect - not overly brown.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
This is a keeper. I used a few more potatoes sliced thin, a 2 cup pkg of sharp cheddar cheese, and sprinkled a few onion flakes between the layers instead of raw onion. I also poured some of the cheese mixture and added salt and pepper on the first layer and on top. Very creamy and yummy. Served with the Brown Sugar Meatloaf recipe on this site and green beans. Great supper!
