About this Cook
I'm a Full Time Domestic Diva - House Spouse - Household Engineer!
My favorite things to cook
I have two young children so my favorite things to cook are whatever makes them go YUMMMMY!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making homemade donuts with my grandmother. I never fry foods so that was a special treat I'll just have to look back on and remember
My cooking triumphs
Wow..?? None really that I can think of that'd be triumphant. Let me think about that one.
My cooking tragedies
I lived in Colorado for a while and didn't realize that you have to do different things for cooking at altitudes -- yikes was that bad for a few weeks!

Sausage Casserole
I used maple flavored sausage, 3 cups of O'Brien potatoes and since those had onions in them, I didn't add any extra. As far as cheese, I used a Mexican blend that was finely shredded... and since I took my eggs out of the carton, I didn't know if they were jumbo so I added one extra to the mix. This was DELICIOUS! I liked that every could top it with whatever they wanted. I used picaunte sauce, my husband his favorite habanero Tabasco sauce and my boys ate it plain. We will definitely make this again and am glad to have 1/2 for leftovers tomorrow morning!

Baked Spiced Chicken
It was okay. I added a little garlic but I still thought the paprika, too, was a little overpowering.

French Toast I
I made a loaf of homemade bread last night just to make French toast this morning since I didn't have any thick sliced bread available otherwise. I actually had to DOUBLE the recipe for the entire 2 pound loaf. I used 5 eggs total in the recipe (try to get a little more protein in for my non-egg-eating 5 year old). I didn't add the nutmeg but did add about a teaspoon of sugar and I used half and half for one half of the milk and the 2/3 for the other. I think it added a creaminess to the taste. I agree, too, with the heat being med-high it leaves a few spots a little more brown than I typically like but seeing that my husband ate 3 pieces, eldest son at 2 and my middle son ate 2, this is a keeper. those kind of "finishes" at breakfast time definitely is not something to balk at!
