I've always loved to cook, but haven't always been good at it! If you ask my mom, she'd tell you I was so bad I couldn't even burn toast (yeah, that bad). But now, she requests my desserts whenever we have our get-togethers. I love trying new things and more often than not, they turn out well. I love many ethnic dishes, but being in rural Minnesota, have limited access to some ingredients (thank goodness for the internet!).
My favorite things to cook
Thai bubble tea, New England clam chowder, homemade chicken pot pie, chili, cookies, pies, cheesecake, flan, Chicken quesadillas (my own recipe!), fettuccine Alfredo, just about everything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Getting together to make holiday cookies. Me, my mom, my sisters and a few friends have our own little "coven" (The Sisterhood of Thalia)and we get together for each of the Pagan holidays to eat, drink and be merry. My younger sister has a taste for the exotic and I have more of a taste for more traditional. It always works out and we always have a delicious spread and a fabulous time.
My cooking triumphs
Making flan and having my sister tell me that it tasted just like the flan she had in Mexico.
My cooking tragedies
Tried making chocolate chip cookies when I was probably about 8 or 9. They were awful, I can still see them and taste them. Thankfully I've perfected my techniques and my desserts are highly requested!
