All good cooks need wine
Love is sweet!
About this Cook
I am a wife, mom, and teacher who loves to be in the kitchen, especially with my kids and students. I was born in Texas, grew up in the Florida Keys, went to college in Tallahassee, and have since lived in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles; Waterford, Ireland; Orlando, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; and currently reside in Baton Rouge.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything, but I DO NOT fry food, I leave that up to my husband. ;) I try and keep my cooking on the lighter side to accommodate my healthy and active life style, although I've yet to find an equally delicious low-fat chocolate chip cookie!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and dad taught me practically everything I know about the kitchen. I want to instill in my own children a love for cooking together as a family.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 9 years old I made ravioli from scratch just to see if I could. It was delicious! I've since discovered that the refrigerated versions are just as tasty, and a lot less time consuming!
My cooking tragedies
For my Mom's 40th birthday, I made a huge double-layer chocolate cake and potato salad. My dog ate half the cake while it was cooling, and the potatoes were still crunchy... Lessons learned: keep dogs out of the kitchen until cleanup, and taste as you go!

Brown Sugar Smokies
Followed suggestions to bake on broil pan and to roll the little smokes/bacon in brown sugar. Baked at 375, turning at about 20 minutes, until crisp (maybe 40 minutes?). These were gone in seconds!

Brownie Frosting
5 for ease, 5 for taste, and 5 for versatility! I made this and frosted cupcakes. I couldn't stop licking the pan! I can't wait to try these on brownies!

Mound Bars
I used fat-free condensed milk, which I have found works just as good! The reasons this recipes gets 4 instead of 5: You MUST put the coconut mixture on hot, otherwise it is a crumbly mess. I think next time I will try just spreading out the coconut & then pouring the milk on top of it. I also felt these were very good, but I agree with another review that there is too much graham cracker crust (and I love graham cracker crust!). You also need to do something to chocolate so it will cut easier later, like add a tbsp. of vegetable oil. They are tasty and I would make them again, but once a year is plenty. :)
