Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Not the best, IMO. I tried to incorporate the changes people suggested and I think that if a recipe requires so many alterations to make it "good", it probably wasn't a keeper in the first place.

No Bake Cereal Cookies

I was looking for a quick treat for our family game night and these hit the spot. They only took about 5 minutes to make. I would say they need about 10 or 15 minutes to cool by my family couldn't wait that long. They are very good when they're gooey. I used Corn Flakes (6 cups) and they were fantastic.

What more can be said...AWESOME! Great to make in warm weather so you don't have to heat up the oven.

Mandarin Mixed Green Salad

The dressing on this recipe was AWESOME!!! I think you could change up the actual salad ingredients and still come out with a winner. My girl friends all asked for the recipe after our luncheon (but my kids didn't like it at all--I guess it was too different for them). Would be a great bridal or baby shower salad.

I first had this in college and I loved it. It is a tasty addition to a summer meal and my friends all like it a lot.

Strawberry Muffins

Definitely needed more milk, or perhaps slightly less flour. They are very, very heavy muffins. You will only need to eat one to fill up. I added 1 tsp. each of vanilla, almond extract, and butter extract to enhance the flavor and it really helped. Otherwise the overall flavor would have been too subtle for me--I guess I just like to be hit over the head with the taste! I added brown sugar to the top for a crunchy topping. I thought these were really quite good, and my dh remarked that they looked like they came from a bakery.

I liked these but there were too many textures for my family. I will make them from time to time but not weekly.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2006
I make this all the time for my friends and always go home with an empty bowl. I would say that three small heads would equal a large head of broccoli...now that I'm typing this I'm realizing that's not very helpful is it? This is what I do: I chop the broccoli and then add the mayonnaise sauce, telling myself I probably won't use it all. I personally like to use the leftover sauce on a sandwich (have to eat it right away though since the sauce is a bit runny and will soak through the bread). Also, about cutting the broccoli, are you cutting it into florets (the little individual heads) or chopping it fine? You just need to chop the little heads off and is pretty quick. For big florets you can chop them in half to make them bite sized. Hope this helps!

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

I read the other reviews and decided to take a gamble anyway. It turned out lumpy, gloopy, and did not taste good at all. I followed the recipe exactly. I think the flavor wasn't really bad, but the texture killed any enjoyment we might have gotten out of it. My kids wanted to like it but just couldn't get past the first bite.

What am I missing here? Neither my husband nor I cared for these much. I made both strawberry and blueberry but they were dense and dry. Will not make these again.

Ham and Pineapple Dinner

Really quite good; I give it high marks for how easy it is (I served it with leftover rice, so all the prep work was already done). The family ate it without complaint. It isn't a knock-your-socks-off recipe, but very nice nonetheless. I will make it again.

This was foolproof, as described, but not very tasty. In a pinch I'd consider using it again. I used Betty Crocker Super Moist Devil's Food mix.

I made this last Thanksgiving and it was AWESOME!! I made mini-muffins instead of a loaf for our buffet table, and they were all gone by the end of the day. The kids couldn't keep their hands off them. I used Sunny Delight for the juice. They have a great little "kick."

These sounded delicious so I made them for a baby shower I hosted. But they were so dense and bland that I was very disappointed. Not what I was expecting.
