I am a wife and mother of two little ladies, work full time, and have too many interests to list.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook comfort foods, which for me usually means southern cookin'. I also love many different ethnic foods and like to find and try authentic dishes. Some of my favorites include Indian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Greek. I prefer using fresh ingredients over dried, canned, packaged, etc. whenever possible. I'm known for serving some type of salad with just about every meal!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas has always been a big deal for my family and I enjoy sharing things from my childhood with my own family. I don't worry about calories or fat during the holidays and enjoy spending hours in the kitchen baking and whipping up holiday treats, just like my parents did.
My cooking triumphs
I have mastered several dishes that I am very proud of and my family and friends often ask for: Korean night, where I serve yakimandu, bulgogi with rice, and a variety of kimchi. I am always asked to bring my potato salad to potlucks, and I'm proud to say that it is almost as good as my mother's recipe. My husband raves about my Thanksgiving dressing. And of course my Greek Salad!
My cooking tragedies
Ugh. I cannot make a roast pork tenderloin to save my life. It always comes out dry. My father always made the best pork roast every year at Easter, but I just can't seem to get it right...
